I am probably going to get trashed for this, but I was thinking about this the other day and wanted to get everyones thoughts..
Everyone complains about two things with the draft..
1) Player projections are way to accurate
2) Unless you get a multiple DITR late round superstars dont exist
What if they changed the draft so that some of the players projections were hidden. This could be chosen at random. Scouting or budgeting would only slightly affect it, as to keep the complexity of a good draft.
What would be interesting is a player like
Andrew Greene could have a dramatic change in draft position based on what was available and not available to an owner.. For example if his vL, Power and Eye were hidden he could be considered a sure fire first round pick. If his vR, range and glove were hidden he could be a very late draft pick.
In order for this to work you would also have to hide the projected overall, because in the first situation you would be able to deduct based on a 72 overall that his hidden numbers werent great, or in the second situation you would be able to predict his hidden numbers had some value.
Of course this wouldnt effect everyone, more well rounded players such as
Britt McGriff wouldnt see their value change much at all regardless of what was hidden.
What does everyone think?
