I just took over Ouchita Baptist in Knight. I have a C prestige and have spent $8k each on 2 players being recruited by simmy with worst prestiges than me and cant even get on the "considered" list.

I know the Sim used to be a pushover in recruiting, but is it just me or has the issue been over-corrected? I would be on the "considered" list by now if competing against a human under the same circumstances.

That doesnt tell us enough. How far away are they recruits from you?

They are 720 and 480 miles apart. Both are closer to me than the respective school they are considering.

So, I am closer AND have a better prestige. I have dropped enough money to get them in just about every other scenario.

don't really look at the distance a sim team is from a recruit. The common belief is that they recruit all players as if they are 200-250 miles away from the recruit.

Not knowing the sims prestige, I'm guessing your C prestige is probably no more than a 20% advantage. The distance diadvantage more than makes up for the prestige edge.

how many scholarships does the sim team have?
how many recruits are they going after?

this is the stuff we need. you are in DII, you get $5k per scholarship. if the sim team has 4 open slots ($20k) and is only going after these 2 players, then they have approx $10k into each. to overcome that, you will have to put a lot more effort into the recruits.

also since you are 720 and 480 miles away, your $8k is not equal to their $8k (remember recruiting is not just about money, it is about effort.

at 720 miles you are probably spending close to $800 for a HV and over $1,300 for a CV. since SIM is recruiting at around 200 miles, they are spend around $400 for a HV and about $1k for a CV.

so with that in mind, you would need to spend probably about $15k just to get even with them (if they do have the $10k into them)

Glen's assessment is dead on except for the recruiting cash. If the sim has 4 scholarships, it's going to spend the lion's share on their top two recruiting choices, so I'd guess it would put in at least around $15 on two if they had 4 open. If you were fighting 2 seperate sims, then you might be going after each of their top recruits, which means alot of their cash is in them.

Thats the 1st time I have seen that, not sure why. Thats B.S. that we are not on equal playing fields. I have just thrown away $16k in recruiting. Looks like this is my 1st and last season in this world.

its a true statement, often discussed in the forum - reasonable people differ on the distance - see also some old dev chats for color on this

The better question is why are you getting in battles with Sims to begin with...I can't imagine there weren't better options.

they were juco transfers and I wanted to blend my team and not be heavy with one class....

Should've stayed with us in D3. FWIW I would always wait for the FSS update before recruiting a sim recruit. If it says they are tight on the recruit, you have very little chance of signing him. Odds are sims will throw a bunch of money into a JUCO recruit and deem them a priority.

Not always true. For their first and second options the sims sometimes do go for some very quality players. C and B simmies rountinely go after top ranked players and sometimes actually land them.

I wouldn't go so far as to say "always", but this is pretty good advice.

They throw a bunch of money right away, and then apparently don't anything else in. I'm not 100% sold on the fact that they never put more money in, unless CS has specifically said they don't. The reason I'm not sold is just I find it odd that sims will go after guys after signings start if they still have open spots, but won't put money into recruits that they are in a battle for? Just seems a bit odd.
