Future Stars Scouting has killed the game Topic

This will be my last season of coaching due to Future Stars Scouting killing the game I used to love. I only have one DIII team, no DI nor DII teams, and because of that I can't compete for recruits. Coaches who have higher division teams and a DIII team have a huge advantage in recruiting with this current system.

Huh? Is it higher division teams out recruiting you or future star scouting?

The two issues seem like they can be twisted to be problems of the same sort but the two do not go hand in hand. Sure a Div II coach can see a kid with potential but what coach would go out of their way in Div II to recruit a kid who is border line Div II or III when there are plenty of Div II recruits just as good or better? Even if the coach would find a recruit with good potential that low in the scheme of things the recruit would still, at worst, be a bottom tier Div II recruit.

Or is your real gripe you are unable to land Div II prospects all the time every time? If that is the case I honestly fail to see a reason you would gripe as you are only coaching a Div III school.

I think he is complaining about coaches with multiple teams, one in DIII and one (or more) in higher divisions using the cash from the higher division team to scout the state of the lower division. That way the lower division has all the scouting info, but never paid for it....

someone has lost sight of reality.

I was hoping I could do this with a FREEHD team and I couldn't, they had already addressed that problem I see lol.

I don't know what other people do, but I've had a lot of success recruiting at d3 and I usually don't use FSS. If I do, it is usually one small state that is very inexpensive (for me, it has been WV).

So move up.

I use FSS very successfully with my D3 team in Allen. Your school's location makes a huge difference though. If you have many small states in your area it's a lot easier to use FSS.

I had this problem happen to me. I know a coach cheated in div III and used a div I team and didn't scout. It was obvious based on the amount of money he had, and the money he spent in his 2 battles that he didn't have enough to actually scout the states. It hasn't killed the game, but its sad when a good % of the coaches do it.

You can use FSS in DIII without any big deal. I'll usually do several states, including any of the following: PA, MD, WV, NJ, DE, VA, DC, NY. It isn't terribly cost prohibitive, you just have to be smarter about your money.

People definitely do this, in fact there appears to be a coach in a world that starts with a P who doesn't even bother to change his screenname by more than adding a number or something silly like that to his main name in each id. I don't know if he cheats but the fact that he has that many teams in one world makes things shady.

if this is happening (and I have no idea if it is), seems an easy fix. just make it so people can't view FSS for divisions lower than they're in. So for my LSU team in Knight, I can't see DII and DIII FSS info for LA, TX, etc. People who know programming: can't this be done easily?

I love D3. I have no problems recruiting and pulling down players even in Rupp where D2 is nearly full. You just have to adjust the way you recruit.

You might want to look at my C- prestige D3 team in Wooden and look at the recruits I signed, it's really not hard.
