It seems extremely helpful to have people campaigning for their players. In real life the voters look at all aspects of a player's performance when voting for these awards. But let's face it, most owners aren't going to take it upon themselves to do hours of research on all the candidates and do close examinations to determine which ones are the most deserving. Having owners campaign for their players allows them to summarize the major arguments for their players in a way other owners can digest quickly and easily and use to evaluate all the candidates in the most well-informed way possible. The voting page just displays the bare minimum-- stuff like HR, ERA, OPS, etc.-- but doesn't point out things like "This pitcher led the majors in quality starts" or "This guy's rate of stolen bases to attempts is one of the best in league history." Stuff like that may well sway voters, but isn't stuff the voters would have discovered on their own, so why not let the owners of the players involved (i.e. the ones who are most invested and most intimately familiar with their stats) do the educating? Doesn't seem like there is anything wrong with this at all, and if anything I think owners should be encouraged to campaign.
