Big problem with redshirting that CS can't fix. Topic

Today I was looking at my UK team in Allen. I noticed that I had a player who had not played a single minute all year. To my surprise, he still had the option to RS him.Weird I thought. So I went ahead and hit the redshirt button at 9:45 a.m. this morning. What could go wrong, right? No big shocker that his WE plummeted from 78 down to 6 when I got the RS response at 11 a.m. Yikes! So I went to un-redshirt him and guess what?

THERE IS NO FREAKING BUTTON TO UNDO THE RS!

I was beyond shocked. I sent a message to CS to inform them about how this was screwed up and that they really needed to get this little glitch fixed before my team rolls over.

They told me that there is nothing they can do for me. WTF CS?!? Are you freaking serious? Why in the world would it let me RS him but not undo it the very next cycle? So now I have a freaking stiff with a WE of 6 on my roster that I have to cut.

So BIG TIME WARNING TO ALL. Do not attempt to redshirt anyone after the NT. Even though the button is there, you will NOT be able to undo it. Man, what has been going on recently? I am stunned at this screw up.

I was hoping that this was just an isolated incident that only happened because of the world not rolling over, but then I read jnick's thread on this same subject. Aye Carumba! Hope that they get this fixed soon. Other coaches might not be as forgiving as me.

Pork, it wasn't just after the NT.  This morning was after the jobs period, too.

True, maybe that is why it was screwed up. I wouldn't risk it even after the NT, though. I mean if the option is there to RS a player, there should obviously be a way to undo it. Ya know?

I'm surprised to hear the kid's work ethic plummeted if the redshirt was given after the national tournament had taken place. If he didn't play all season, why would a kid object to receiving a redshirt that'll give him an extra year of eligibility to play the game? I'm struggling to see why there would be negative effect in a situation like that...at that point you're practically doing the player a favor by handing the RS.

Or am I missing something obvious?

Because then everyone would due that to ensure everyone would take the redshirt.

The problem isn't that you can't take it off late in the season. It's that you can put it on. There needs to be a deadline for applying a RS just like in real life. Either go with the end of exhibitions or the end of non-con.

I did it the morning after the National championsship game in Phelan cs siad they would look into it but didn't do anything and i left the team i looked later and his we is 2 :( But it shouldn't be an option after the season i hope they fix it before it happens to too many more people

Looks like the player is back to normal. Was it Roy Pearson? Well his WE is back to 78 and he took the redshirt.

yeah if so that makes it worth it, I think, trading off one bad offseason for an extra year.  Heck, that could even be a real option for a guy who won't take a redshirt at the beginning of the year...just put him on "rest" and at the end, stick it on him (provided he hasn't played any minutes at all).

Seble pulled through in a big way concerning this issue. He worked out the problem and did an awesome job communicating with me. I am an even bigger fan of him now!

Bigger problem is that they allowed to have him keep the redshirt on AND get his WE back. If you give him the WE back, the redshirt should have been taken off as well because clearly he was not happy with it.

I think that you should have to have put a RS on a kid until the 15th game of the season (unlikely anybody has a player that hasn't played that they can still redshirt at this point anyways). But you should be able to REMOVE the redshirt at ANY POINT IN THE SEASON. If you can't do that then this needs to be fixed. Or injuries need to be banish ASAP.

Isn't the "rest" option only for injured players? Regardless, if you give a scholarship player 0 minutes for the entire season, his WE is going to take a decent hit anyway, right?
