D3 to D1 recruits, It's not that far Topic

Here's something funny.  I had a C considering my D3 AMC team, but ended up passing on him (mostly due to very low ST).

After the rollover, I see he's back as a JUCO, but this time he's the #147 ranked Center in the country.

Name Pos. GPA FG% FT% A SPD REB DE BLK LP PE BH P WE ST DU TOT
Kenneth White C 4.00 58.4 62.3 45 13 72 42 58 71 1 12 27 51 39 63 494

BTW, he wasn't even a dropdown, I recruited him straight away in D3.

Here's his numbers last year.
C Kenneth White 42 12 67 37 56 71 1 12 24 49 36 57 464

36 stamina is a joke for a college player.  80% of all stamina's should end up at about 80, with about 10% ending at 90 and 10% @ 70.  The range is too great.  It just doesn't vary that much.  Seble, do you survey coaches or former players?

if jared can run a marathon than any college bball player can have 70 stamina.

+1. If a guy has good ATH and is willing to work hard (this guy's got a strong WE and a 4.0 GPA), how could he possibly have a STA in the 30's as a soph? Completely unrealistic. I'm fine with some players starting fairly low on STA (maybe around 50), but every player should have the ability to end up somewhere in the 70-100 range.

Not completely convinced myself, but could this be one of those instances where we don't want to match real life?  One of the things I sort of like about the super high/low stamina ratings is that it forces some tough decisions on recruiting.  Heck, in this example HalfAstros decided to pass on having a top 150 center on his D3 team.

It's not at all realistic but it does add to the variety of the game.  And that might be a good thing in this instance.

Personally, my biggest concern would be that the #147 Center nationally only has a 13 speed as a sophomore. Are we generating post players or trees?

I do agree though ku, a tradeoff of this magnitude definitely interjects an element of choice in the game that is somewhat intriguing (I won't go so far as to say its good for the game...but its definitely intriguing)

kujayhawk, I definitely understand what you're saying. And in fact, one reason I love playing at D3 is because there are a seemingly endless number of tradeoffs in recruiting players. Do I take player X, who's high-ATH low-REB, or player Y, who's mid-ATH mid-REB? Those kinds of tough decisions are great. But, I would question whether stamina should be part of that tradeoff in such a drastic way. I can appreciate having to choose whether I want to take a PG who'll become a 90 STA over a (for example) faster PG who'll only be 80 STA. But below a certain point, low stamina becomes pretty unrealistic in a way that I don't think other low ratings do. A D3 coach in RL might take a chance on a guard with only 20 PER (if he had strong "ratings" in other cores), but I suspect he'd be very weary of a 36-STA player even if he had decent talent in other areas.

Agree with jayhawk to a point, but the outlier should be no lower than 50, with most bad staminas in the 55-65 range. A 36 stamina player may as well not be generated.

Or a PG with like 30 BH at the DI level...and low potential.  I mean honestly, this new system generates some awful ratings and low potential to go with.

ya there are some goofy rated players

if a guy has high WE, he should not rly be able to have THAt low of stamina. that said, if he's 39, he's prob hi/hi, and if his WE is >50, he'll prob go up like 20 points in the first year and be respectable right away.

how long has christina aguilera been fat?

also fwiw i had the same thing happen in phelan last year, passed on a center and he was ranked around 140 the following year

Not a 39 but a 43:  The guy I took last season(A center) with a  43 stamina and high potential is turning out quite nicely.  Went up 22 stamina in his first year.
