If I redshirt a senior and his we drops to one is he going to bail after the season?  I care less about the we drop as long as he is guarenteed to stay.  I have experience in this.

i've been in your boat before brian and have asked that question a few times iirc on the forum.  Feedback was pretty sparse (as is the case here), so I could never get comfortable that he wouldn't bail on me, so I never risked it and kept the R/S on.  What feedback I did get, though, seemed to suggest he wouldn't bail...but again, it was just too risky for me to go for it. 

If you go through with it, please update this thread once the season ends and the kid stays or leaves, either way it would be good to know.

The problem, of course, is that seniors are rarely redshirted in WIS. So there's not much data.  I've only tried it once and, fortunately, he was OK with the decision

I don't blame you brian.  However, thinking back to all my recruiting sesons, I've never come across a senior transfer who has a WE of 1 or who shows a R/S for his real senior year, possibly indicating that even these kids with a WE of 1 after being R/S their senior year simply don't transfer.  The other option is that the kid's WE goes back to its original value once his R/S is over and before recruiting begins, thus a WE 1 guy simply doesn't appear at all once recruiting starts.  Dunno if this is how the logic works, though.

Cant answer your question, but this guy is close.. This guy redshirted junior year then apparently had PT issues and transferred a year later. He apparently dropped to 1 with the RS and did NOT transfer as a JR.. Has been a nice role player for me this season

nice post pink...I think that is pretty indicative that a WE 1 guy won't automatically transfer.  Wish we had more cases to verify this with.

I once rs a senior a few seasons ago.  His we dropped from 42 to 17.  He stood for another season.

dammit were were you all when I asked?  jk If the we would of only dropped half way or even to the teens I may have tried it but when it went to 1 everytime I was to chicken **** to try
