Looking for some information on catchers Topic

From across all worlds...I have a guy who is 38 and been a catcher his entire career (though this is his last season of it). Had a huge DUR early on, and has never played less than 134 games in a season prior to this season (though again, this ends this year most likely).

What I'm curious about is, statistically, what other people are seeing on the high end from catchers in their world.  I'm not talking about 1/2 time catchers, 1/2 time DHs, but the guys who are actually catchers.  This guys' career stats are amazing -- and he's not linked mainly because I don't want this to be a look at me thread -- and I'm curious for two reasons...

1) What people are looking at for consistent, career catchers, and what those guys end up producing.  I know there are a lot of guys that are DHs that end up catching for their offense for a few seasons, but I also know that DUR is typically a problem for most of these guys...

2) How many similar players to my guy are actually out there.  I haven't personally found many catchers with that type of high durability that can not only produce but play their position, but maybe they are out there.

Is too a "look at me" thread because he was on my team for 5+ seasons.   I don't see any mention of that.

But, to answer your question, he's a freak.  I haven't ran across a player like that in my 60 some odd seasons.    He created an extra roster spot because A) He could play every inning of every game up until roster expansion at 100% and B) you didn't need a D-replacement on hand.

For those that just have to see: Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Pete Wolf

BTW, I've never seen an HBD team with so many oldtimers on it. Six pitchers aged 37 or more - what are they putting in the drinking water in Moonlight Graham?

Pete is the all-time leader in PA and hits(3007) in MG.

My own Kevin Tamura in MG has potential to be one of these "freak" catchers.  Only 23 in his second season, but has caught all 256 games so far (all at 100%) with a .841 OPS.

Nice tank job to get him.

12th pick, close to middle of the pack.  Or to put it context you might understand, only 3 picks ahead of you that season, Mr. CallingTheKettleBlack.

Silence, tanker.

The first two don't even have 1000 hits yet, and Perez is 33 and doesn't even have 1800 (yet?).

I was referring to MikeT's first post in the thread.

I also forgot to post this guy from GAP:   Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Max Jimenez

Fair enough.

I've got a full-time C who was 100 DUR (now older and has dropped to 99) so I agree they're not all that uncommon.  He has 90-something health, too.

My first post is pretty self-explanatory.

But, even if he has 100 durability and can't play, he doesn't save a roster spot.     And 2-3 in a world who are over 95 DUR and can actually play the postion does not make them "common".
