Its amateur draft time and I am analyzing two pitchers.  These are their PROJECTED stats.

Pitcher A - 19 durability, 52 makeup, 76 stamina, 90 control, 82-92 L-R, 93 velocity, 48 gb/fb, 89-68-62-52

Pitcher B - 29 durability, 90 makeup, 75 stamina, 63 control, 81-85 L-R, 94 velocity, 44 gb/fb, 84-74-80-53

Whaddya think?

Assuming they hit those projections, Pitcher A.

Pitcher A

So the makeup doesnt deter you at all? Or is it just not enough to make a difference?

Could make a case for either one.  Assuming they reach the projections (which makeup plays into), pitcher A is a freak, pitcher B is really good.

Call me crazy, I say pitcher 2.

The 19 durability for pitcher 1 sucks. He's going to miss some starts, or you're going to have to lower his PC to prevent that.

Further, pitcher 2 has comparable splits, velocity, and GBFB ratio, but has three fantastic pitches---84/74/80 is a disgusting pitch combination.

Those two things plus the difference in makeup makes me say pitcher 2.

Just my opinion.

Even if we assume his makeup impacts his development, reaching 85-90% of pitcher A's projections will still put him at a superior player to pitcher B, who probably also won't max out on those projections either.  Plus 85+ control vs. 60-63 control is a huge difference, whereas their splits and pitches are pretty much a wash.

Control is what pushed me to A over B.  29 durability beats 19 durability, but given the additional walks the second pitcher will surrender, he'll need more pitches to get through the same number of innings.

What are their current ratings, that will be the best way to tell you...

Additionally, what are your scouting bugets?  Are they both HS or college guys, or are they being scouted w/ different bugets?  Additionally, what is their patience rating and signability?  Getting 1 to sign for slot, and freeing up money for an IFA could be better in the long term, than having to shell out 10 mil for the other guy and risking that he won't sign.  If the patience on 1 is ultra high (90+) they may continue to sign with you w/o ever testing the FA market.  Sure thats thinking perhaps 14 seasons into the future, but if you think you may be there that long, it could play a roll down the road.

Pitcher A's projections are superior, but the durability and lower stamina would be me some pause.  Little chance you could use him 3 times in a 5 game set for an extended roll, while Pitcher B could do that if he's your #1.

Well, prospect B is managed by his Mom and is saying he probably will not sign so that might be the deciding factor.

The agent doesn't matter, but the fact he probably won't sign is a huge factor.  Go with A.

I know the agent doesnt matter but I personally have never succesfully negotiated with a first rounder with his mom as his agent.  They are always a bit cunty towards me for some reason.

I'd got w/A as well, but I think it's close, due to the durability and pitch combo of B.  However, since Mom is the agent for B, you shouldn't draft him.  I've never seen a Mom one sign.  The initial demand for B will be about $7-$8M and that's just to have them tell you  thanks, but no thanks.

When you meet them to make the first offer, try a business suit instead of the t-shirt that says "MILFHunter."

Seriously-- I've seen one of these sign and heard of maybe 2 or 3 more through the forum; the signing probability is very low.  A is, in my opinion, WAY better than B; but I'd rank B ahead of A if it were A who had Mom as an agent.
