Is temper just a throw away rating? I am new to this, but is there any value to a high or low rating for temper?

High temper dudes get hit by a lot of pitches.   And thrown out of games.

I've never noticed that, but I have noticed that the league leaders in HBP tend to have low tempers (typically, 30 or less).

Yeah, I have it backwards.  Low temper guys get hit a lot but the high temper guys still get tossed more frequently.

This is where I get confused with some of the ratings.  Does a high number in temper mean he has a good temper or a bad temper?

I know we've had similar discussions with push/pull tendency (ie: does 100 mean the guy is a pure pull hitter, or that he's good at spraying the ball to all fields)

High temper = Milton Bradley
Low temper = Jeff Spicoli

Push/pull rating = Judge Reinhold/Phoebe Cates.

Everytime I hear The Cars "Moving in Stereo", I have a FTaRH flashback.

I think we got off topic, but I'm OK with that

By the way, does push/pull have any relevance other than how the stadium is set?

In all honesty, I still don't know whether a high temper rating is good, bad or pretty meaningless. If it is just about getting thrown out of games and HBP, it is meaningless.

I'm sorry.  Did you say something after 3:53pm?

Point taken ;-)

For me it's just a bonus to have a low temper. More HBP, higher OBP, and never get kicked out of games. Double bonus if it's for a good base stealer, but having said all that, I don't use it in player valuation, I just treat it as a bonus.
