Best Decision You Have Made in HBD Topic

In the vein of the other thread, what is the best HBD decision you have made? I know for some of you (who think you are awesome, yes I am talking to you mike), it might be difficult, but only choose 1!

When I told MikeT23 to never allow you in his worlds

I know I'm awesome.

Creating two worlds.  Finding worlds you like in HBD is very difficult.   I'm still seeking that 4th one that works for me.   And being nice to hbdgirl when she made her triumphant return to HBD.

Best decision I ever made was to study misterploppie's trade techniques and do likewise.

Though it rarely works anymore, now all the owners are experienced enough to know not to take four quarters for a dollar (so to speak).

So, to paraphrase, best decision you ever made was to trade rape?

Taking a year and a half off.

I know that was good for us.

2nd; giving up Jumbo_Martin and Junior_Hodges for Duffy Bucholtz and Moose Morris

Honest good for Good trade, but Moose was hands down the best pitcher I ever had. Ever.

Third, being SEASON 16 and SEASON 18 EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR in the "elite" world of Cooperstown.

Jumbo Martin is in a different league (edit) World than the other 3 players... and if you did make that trade, you trade-raped the **** out of somebody.

Whoops, copy/paste error. Moose is the main character, just click him and ogle for a while.

It might not be my best decision ever, but my all-time favorite trade was at the deadline of my first season with my Mays team.

I sent stud pitching prospects Tomas Prieto and Miguel Garrido along with Javier Sanchez in exchange for reigning MVP Roy Workman, shutdown closer Wilfredo Calles and thrown-in FP Moss (presumably to eat some of the minor-league innings I was giving up). I'd taken over a disaster of a franchise that finished 72-90 that first season but finished above .500 the following season. We won the NL pennant the season after that and a World Series the season after that.

Which is almost exactly how I'd hoped things would work out when I pressed "submit trade."

Mine would be a combination of two trades in a season:
In the preseason I traded Juan Aybar, Harold Hughes & Geoff Blair for Roberto Baez
Then, around the trade deadline, I traded Vasco Chavez (who I picked up in a preseason trade), Brad Beckett & Joe Figga for Morgan Burns & Lorenzo Mercado
Baez and Burns went on to lead my rotation and team to the WS title that year and again in Season 18 (and hopefully another one or two upcoming).  Baez also won a Cy Young the year after the first WS title.

My best deal was a pre-season trade in my first season in Ott.  One might think it was trade-rape, but it was made with an experienced owner with a good track record of success.  But I sure feel like I bent him over.

Traded three pitchers (Doc Adkinson, Hector Acosta and Mac Miller) for three position players (DH Carlos Rodrigo, C Buddy Barrett, and SS Willie Jacquez).

Adkinson had an OK but unspectacular career.  Acosta had seven seasons on ML suck.  And Miller naver made the bigs.

Rodrigo was (.365, 23, 111) in his first season for me.  Barrett was (.367, 34, 134) in his first season for me.  Jacquez was a .297 singles hitter with poor defense until I found a better option mid-season.

My other "best move" was a trade that can best be thought of as a parlay: in season 3 of Cooperstown, I made the following deal in what was basically a salary dump for the other team:

I traded (OF Don Satou, OF Jimmie Bell, and OF Steve Hyers) for (DH Ramon Masato and P Jerry LaRue).

Satou had a total of 126 ML PA's.  Bell and Hyers never made it to the show.  In Masato's one season for me, he went (.289, 51, 130).  LaRue won 93 games for me over 9 seasons).

The following season, I dealt Masato and P Luis Lopez for (OF Matty Guerrero and P Earl Wheeler).

Lopez ended up with a brief and mediocre career after the trade.  Guerrero was a mediocre (.248, 2, 15) in 143 PA's for me that season.  Wheeler had a fair amount of promise, but was derailed my multiple injuries over parts of 10 season with me, but ended up with a 1.32 WHIP over 900 ML innings.
