Minutes for ineligible Topic

I've been playing for some time but had never taken an ineligible. So, what's a good amount of minutes to get this guy eligible again?

Are you asking about signing an ineligible player or having a player become ineligible due to grades?

If you signed an ineligible, then you have to put every single minute into study hall.  If you had a player become ineligible due to grades, that's a trickier answer.

I signed him. Thanks abitaamber...

Just don't freak out about his grades during his ineligible year. You want them as good as possible, but for whatever reason they are even more retarded during their ineligible year than any other year.

I have 90 minutes in study hall for my current ineligible and his GPA was a 1.9 at mid terms.

its hard teaching those kids to read/write at 18...

I have 80 minutes to give so I hope that's enough. We shall see.

My experience is he may have a bad mid-term GPA, but he'll make his grades.

Does the practice plan actually matter for ineligible?  Since he can't practice with the team the sim should just ignore the practice plan and apply everything to study hall anyway (including time spent on team off/def practice).  That's the common sense thing to do and doesn't punish a team that practices off/def more.

only matters for SH.  Kid's GPA may effect future eligibility depending on level (D I, II, III)

The whole advantage of getting an ineligible player to get a free season of off and def practice min.

Too bad they don't improve in off and def during the ineligible year.

@dac, you missed my point.  My question is does the sim even pay any attention to the settings when it runs practice for the kid.  Since nothing matters but SH, the common sense thing for a programmer to do in this case is to ignore the practice plan completely and put the 130 minutes to study hall.  So my question is, for an ineligible does the practice plan have any effect whatsoever?

That is completely false.  Ineligibles do not practice AT ALL in the season they are ineligible.

The problem with hannibal's idea of the Sim automatically putting all 130 minutes for ineligibles is that I don't think the system is sophisticated enough to differentiate between FR who didn't qualify, and guys who are academically ineligible because they didn't make grades.  The first should have all practice minutes in SH, the second just needs more SH but still has to practice.

the engine will recognize SH minutes and do its magic with them but minutes anywhere else don't accomplish anything.

The system clearly can make that distinction when it comes time to give the ineligible a 5th year so it can easily distinguish during the freshman year.  Furthermore, the system makes that distinction already as practice plans are applied to players who become ineligible due to grades but not to non-qualifiers.
