6 hour half cycles during pre-season Topic

Not really a suggestion as much as a survey.

Some owners believe time constraints are why owners don't have more teams.  While this is a reasonable assumption, I don't think extending time consuming events will really help alleviate the problem.   So what I'm semi-suggesting is a 50% extension of deadline during the pre-season.   Events that you are given 24 hours to complete will now be 36 hours.  Once ST starts, the game would revert back to 4 hour half cycles.

So the questions are:

1.  Would this allow anyone to add teams?
2.  Would this stop anyone from reducing teams?

Also, what, if any, changes would convince you to add teams?  And, please, don't say "Cheaper teams!!"

I don't think it changes anything.  Budget setting, coach re-hiring, LT contract negotation, arbitration, they take 2 minutes each.  If I don't have time to check in for 2 mins a day for those, I doubt the extra 12 hours will change anything.

FA and coach hiring are the more time consuming aspects, and you have multiple days to take care of that already.

Also, I only miss pre-season events when I'm not paying attention/don't care about my teams.  When I'm engaged it's pretty easy to not miss.

So if I was going to control 8 teams, I assume I'd be really engaged in HBD.  If you want to play at a casual investment level, why would you need more than 1 or 2 teams?

Why would you have a team if you "don't care about" it?

because i've had it for a couple irl years, and even though i'm not in the mood for HBD at that moment in time i know i will be in a couple of months?

Nice attitude.  I'm sure the commishes of the worlds those teams are in must be really happy to know you "don't care about" those teams for a couple of seasons.

i didn't really care about MG S19 when i won the championship.  i probably devoted like 5 minutes a week to my team until the playoffs.

So no opinions other than a deano/tec ******* match?

I think the move would be irrelevant.  We're talking about 12 hours.

12 hours is a long time.    In my case, I sometimes miss 18-20 hours on Saturday.  That could easily turn into 30+ if I was unable to check in Saturday morning.

I'm actually in favor of the move; it would be nice to have a little more time to do things in case I'm in a tight spot on a weekend.  But it wouldn't convince/deter me from adding or subtracting teams.  My guess is that it would have little to no impact on the rest of the HBD universe as well.

That's really the bigger issue.  I don't think time is that much of a factor for those who add/reduce teams unless their real life available time changed.    Adding 12-72 hours for certain aspects of the game isn't going to help.

It wouldn't make a difference to me one way or the other. I know my that I can handle 6 or 7 teams tops before I starts missing details. The extra time wouldn't entice me to add any other teams.

You suggestion actually turns me off on the game a bit.  So it would not get me to add another team at all.  I feel like 2 teams is a good amount for me.  Only thing that would get me to add one would be:

1) Cheaper
(I know you said don't say this, but its true).

2) More quality worlds.
(I am in Happy Jack right now that had an almost immediate roll over, I like that.  I am also in Addicted Users, which will probably have a month long recruiting process because little effort goes into recruiting before the World Series Starts, I don't like that).

3) Coach hiring change

(I hate this aspect of the game. Bidding on coaches AND free agents at the same time in a lot of bidding at once.  There are strategies on both than just rub me the wrong way, particularly with coach hiring.)

4) Spring Training

(I dislike this too, too long, and too many line/up moves. No one I know of has "competition" for spots.  This should all occur in 1 day and just be like a "Practice Minutes" thing in other dynasty games. Where you can improve / maintain stats based on practice minutes.)

If these things were fixed, along with some fix on advanced scouting... I would consider adding a team, because the game would be more streamlined and fun for me.

It wasn't a suggestion, it was more of a survey.
