1996 Progressive Draft Board and a few questions Topic

Hey All, I am looking for a 1996 progressive draft board just to get an idea at what picks players were taken. I tried searching the forums but no help there, where can I find previous draft boards?

Question #2 - if there is a park that allows +2 Hr to left field and -1 hr to right field then do right handed hitters have an advantage for hitting HR's or does it matter?

Questions #3 - why when I check the recent champs do they not put theme league or open league next to the championship games? Also when I click on a player user name in these forums and look at their teams it never says if it is a theme league or a open league?

Thanks for your time.

1. There's no one place to find previous draft boards. You can check the "theme leagues" forum, but most progressives have their own private forum at this point. Post here and maybe someone will help you out.

2. Yes. All hitters are assumed to be pull hitters. They don't ALWAYS pull, but it's fair to say they USUALLY pull.

3. No idea.

For #3, you can click on the league # and see if there's a commish.  If there is, it's not an OL.

Instead of searching the forums for a 1996 draft board, why don't you just make your own?

Meh, not on agreement here...... I like to see how other drafts panned out.

However to avoid that type of post, maybe be more specific on team needs, drafting position or offer a tad bit of your own research?

I have noticed that (at least in single season drafts) the order of players usually varies greatly. The top ten in talent may not jibe with the top ten in owner needs.
Sure the top 10 talentwise will all be gone by the 12th/13th pick, but often specific owner needs trump talent. Then of course there are the WTF picks that happen due to owner ahh peculiarities. Of which I have been guilty of...

thanks for you input all. Hey cd for our league how many minimum plate appearances and inning pitched do we need to draft a first year player.  So basically trust the site when you search for a "first year" player?  There may be a good player who only had 20 at bats in 96 and awesome starting in 97 and is eligable to draft but may not come up on the list, it seems like I would be searching for ever. The same goes for pitching. It looks like first year guys in pitching for 96 are not very good.  Just looking for some ideas to prepare for my next seasons draft. thanks

It obviously looks like Jeter, Nomar, Rolen, Giles would be up there for top picks, but as you said it depends on needs.

Yup, just go by what is in the draft center..(remember to set minimum games at: all  0  and check the secondary positions box for hitters) There are no minimums and the league goes by first WIS season not actual 1st season.

Example: inf Mike Schmidt actually logged 40pa's in 1972, making it his official rookie year, but according to WIS 1973 and his 443pa's are his WIS rookie year.

Just quickly looked, pitching is pretty thin....Estes, Park, Wagner, Thompson(only 2 good yrs),  Wilson.....

...and   Renteria, Dye, Erstad, A.Jones, Sweeney. Decent talent, but overall not a stellar draft for sure.
I'm probably going to trade out of the draft probably due to drafting time constraints (and overall current laziness).
Going to try to move my 1st for 2 minor players that can help me for 2-2/12 seasons each. Then MY rebuild begins.....Hello 1999 :-(

It'll be a fun draft to see who takes who where (especially because there are a couple of pitchers who have 2-3 yr careers).

Thanks alot cd, that will really help me to prepare not to mention you are a tough division foe

Boogs, how are you? How is Hardball Dynasty treating you? I was thinking of possibly owning a team in the far future but it doesnt look simple and it is kinda expensive.  It would be better if the HBD were the same price as SLB.

I'm doing lovely. HBD is treating me just fine. For me, the draw to SLB is testing out different ways to score runs efficiently and/or do unique things with offenses, but if I just feel like managing a team, HBD is more than twice as fun as a progressive imo and worth the price. It definitly isn't simple and I wouldn't recommend owning more than one franchise for a least 6 months (2 seasons).

Trentonjoe basically nailed the strategy in a nutshell.  Get pitching any place you can.  Playing with 13 pitchers means you need full time starters, playing in the AL is even harder with a spot for DH.  9 starters means you have 3 bench spots, one for C, one for ulti and one for whoever is left over.
