Any suggestions with the Branch Rickey world being unable to fill.  I always thought it was a fun and competitive league but double digit owners left this year and we have gone from 11 to 14 open spots while waiting to fill.  Outside of going public or leaving the world, do we have any other options?

Offer owners your first born.

Why did so many owners leave?  Who's the commish?  What is he doing to address the problem?

It really depends, in my limited knowledge, on the history of the world. Was there something that caused this mass exodus? tecwrg's questions are the first step to answering this problem.

tmfran is the commish and it's not his fault.  He's sent out many invites to no avail.  Not sure why so many owners left at once since it was a strong league but it's tough to get guys to join when you start out with so many openings.

I've sitemailed a few guys that left and some said they were getting out of hardball dynasty and I had one long time owner say he thought, for an elite world, we lowered our criteria for new owners the season before. 

That's a piece of advice I give commishes when they ask.   If you have a standard of admission, don't go crazy if you can't fill immediately.  Other owners will press you to get rolling but it takes 32 good owners to make a world and just one bad one to wreck it.   Once you start a cycle of one and done owners on a team, it takes forever for that team to recover.   And, by bringing in the one and dones, you'll frustrate your base owners.

Or worse, the bad owners will stay and the good ones will leave.

But I really didn't see where the world got any worse.  It is a very competitive world with good conversation on the message board.  Back to the original question, where is this likely headed from here because I see no way we fill at status quo.

The Branch Rickey thread in the Classifieds forum was last updated on 11/22/2011 at 8:53 AM.  That's almost 8 1/2 days ago.

I'd question the commish as to why he's not actively and aggressively recruiting in that forum.  A commish letting his recruiting thread fall to page 3 in the Classifieds forum is as good as his saying "I really don't give a shiit".

Doing nothing isn't the answer.   I can guarantee that.

That is the truest thing posted in here. There are many ways to fill a world, but doing nothing is not the way.

I don't know.  Tecwrg really does nothing and our world always seems to fill.
