Iba Heartland- Down to 1 spot, Great Opportunity! Topic

Well guys, Iba has rolled, and that means it is time for some job changes. Long recognized as the best D2 of any world, Iba has many great conferences with many great coaches. One such conference, the Heartland, is in a very interesting position: It has 3 SIM teams left, and is only a season or two away from being one of the top dogs in Iba. So, now you need to come along for the ride.

Three teams are ripe for the picking (thanks to mduncanhogs for contributing to this):

Drury: This team plays a motion/zone.  It currently has a C presitige.  They will have 4 open scholarships.  This is the only opening currently in the East division of the Heartland conference.

Montevallo: This team plays a fastbreak/M2M.  It will not have any open scholarship after the season, but we should have a good amount of tournament money if a new coach wanted to cut any of the 6 FR on this roster to start balancing classes out a bit.  This team has 5 JRs, including star PG Ted Hairston.  so it will be in decent shape to win next season and will then have 5 openings.

W. Alabama: This team plays a fastbreak/M2M.  It will have 3 open schlarships after the season.  It has a 6-player SO class that was human recruited and has some pretty darn good players in it.

In addition to MDH's comments, here are mine:

All teams: A great, active conference with just the right mix of powerhouses to rake in the cash, up and comers to make the conference stronger, and rebuilds to attract new coaches wanting to make a name for themselves in the world of HD. Our coaches' corner is by far the most active that I have been apart of, with great coaches such as MDH and davefilby, as well as jaledarrett and ericsmith, regular contributors. Other coaches include myself, deweycox, ragizzy, funngun10, and psimon90.

Drury: If taken, will fill up one half of the conference. That means great human interaction, and only 2 SIM games at most during conference.

Montevallo: Coach can do what I did/am doing with West Florida. Come in, win a few games, knock your prestige up a few notches, and then recruit to win. Probably one of the best setups for a quick rebuild.

West Alabama: As MDH said, just take a look at the SOPH class. Your welcome.

SO what are you waiting for? Come on in and join us in the Heartland! Feel free to sitemail me, MDH, or davefilby with any questions.

This really is a great conference to be a part of. I'd love to see it fill up. I'm in a full conference in D3 Naismith and it is a blast to play in a full conference and I love the test of playing ZERO Sims. You have to earn every win. I fully expect conference team Incarnate Word (coached by davefilby) to make deep NT runs the next 2 seasons and others should do well too to help add to our recruiting budgets. Come join us!

There's also a premier job opening at Wisconsin-Parkside in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Coach jt is retiring after 38 season there:

38 seasons, 899-277 record
 36 NTs,
7 Sweet 16s,
6 Elite 8s,
2 Final fours,
1 national title.

My conference, CVAC (#1 in Iba DII) is full - but let me just say that across the board, Iba is the best DII experience - there are lots of great coaches and the Iba forum is heavily active.

Another great opportunity in Iba DII is two-time National Champ N. Florida.  Has made the NT 13 of the last 15 seasons and currently sits at a B prestige.  Great conference (Peach Belt) that needs some more bodies.

Make that three-time National Champ N. Fla.  I just noticed that they were champs in Season 1.

I'll agree with you, the CVAC is premium, but it's also full.  It looks like we may have a taker for Montevallo in the Heartland, which gives us 10 coaches, second to the CVAC in D-II Iba.  Who wants the W Alabama job?  That soph class is worth taking a look at.  One more coach and we can turn this conference up to 11.

As dave said, the West Alabama job is primed at the pump. Get in one of the most active conferences there are in D2 Heartland!

I applied for it
3/6/2012 5:43 PM
W. Alabama has filled.  Drury and Montevallo are all that remain open in the Heartland confernece.  2 openings away from being full (although a coach has said he has applied for Montevallo).  Come join us!

Down to just Drury. 4 schollies available and a few kids that really improved last year. Become the 12th (and final) coach in D-II Iba Heartland and create the 2nd totally full conference in that div/world!

Drury is our last opening.  It has been suggested that the CVAC (usually the #1 conference in D2 Iba...for now anyway!) and the Heartland begin playing a Heartland-CVAC Challenge.  If Drury fills, this will be 2 full conferences battling it out every season for bragging rights in Iba.  This would be a BLAST!  Someone needs to take that Drury job and fill up the Heartland so we can make this happen!

Guys, now that we are only 1 coach away from a full conference, the CVAC has approached us about doing a Heartland-CVAC challenge! But, in order to get the full effect, we need that one more coach. Join now, and you will be given a team in the most active conference (well, along with the CVAC) in the best D2 world.

So, let's recap: The best D2 conferences in the best D2 world have one opening COMBINED. Hop in now for a great experience!!

I'm going to make this easy on interested coaches.  Here is some detail on the last opening: Drury.  Mitchell and Woods are walkons, so there will be 4 available scholarships and we had over $4k in postseason money per team, so you could cut a 5th if you like.  Team prestige is C.

SOs Elwell and Schafer give you an inside/outside combo to build around.  Piedra looks like a promising FR as well at SF.
