They only JUST took effect ...

And the adjustment is probably the effect of the false prop up of conference\baseline. One season tells you less than nothing. This seqson is going to be unique ...

The changes weren't applied to Tark, Naismith, and Phelan yet. They will go in to effect this coming season for all those worlds. Updates never take effect during a season that is in progress always after a rollover.

Are the prestige changes for DII and DIII also? Or just D1??

DI has always been figured differently. I'm  hoping they changed for the other divisions as well

Maybe you should tell seble the changes haven't taken effect, he said they have! And like sully said they suck!

If I'm not mistaken, Seble stated it was mostly, if not all, for D1.

I haven't noticed any of my expected problems so far.  Seems fine.

After seeing the changes in Tark, Phelan and Naismith, I must say I am not a big fan of how this seems to be going.  In Naismith, UCLA went to the Elite 8 and did not see any change in prestige.  There are numerous teams that had a drop in prestige which seems unreasonable.  UCLA also lost a guard to EE while the National Champs had a much better guard stick around.

In Phelan, LSU went to a 3rd straight Sweet 16 and is stuck at an A-.  How is that not an A in prestige?  That is ridiculous.  Tark was before the new changes but the EE in that world were ridiculous.

From what I can tell, these new changes have gone too far in the opposite direction concerning prestige.  It is going to be a lot of mid-level prestige and very difficult to get to that upper level.  Once again, WIS has responded to all of the whiners on the forums and gone too far with a change.  I did not see anything wrong with how prestige was working before.  I hope everyone who complained is happy now.  It's funny that the majority of the players do not comment on the forums but that those who do complain get their voices heard.

I saw that recruiting changes are next.  I hope that doesnt get ruined as well.  I really enjoy the game as it is now.  I'm afraid these new changes are going to have a detrimental effect on the game.

I didn't complain, but I'm always happy when grownups pout.  So thanks!

An A+ prestige should be extremely difficult to get in D1, I don't know why anyone would think it shouldn't be. In real life how many "A+" schools would you say there are? I'd say Duke, UNC, Kentucky, UConn, Kansas, maybe UCLA, and that's about it. There should be much more A-/A schools, schools that are on the brink of being among the super elite but not quite there.

Maybe ... kinda/sorta. If this didn't include the new changes, then obviously it doesn't matter.

But if it did (and I'm not sure),some of what he posted seems pretty troubling.

LSU with three straight Sweet 16's only at an A-? That doesn't make any sense, no way to rationalize it.

Put it this way, girt": If the baseline/Conference bit has been inflating Prestige then in a situation where the prestige might otherwise stay the same or go up slightly, in the first season its removes, it might drift downward instead - the prop has been removes - where in a similar situation under normal circumstances it might stay put or even go up.  I would think the first season afterwards might not be the best indicator of what standard is going to be.   Imagine you have a tank of water with sand at the bottom.  Yes water was just added, but two scoops of sand were taken out of the bottom at the same time, so the prestige didn't move.    Same thing happens again, it probably goes up.  Additionally, less emphasis placed on the most recent season means that that team that just went to a third straight sixteen just had the year where it didn't count more.

Many of these things will cause a 'change' in the first year after implementation that you probably won't see in quite the same way on a one year basis afterwards.

If that makes sense.

Also, before LSU went to those three straight they were at a b prestige, so they had a way up to go.  Not that long ago the team was at c-.  As for cal, their prior three seasons were a second round exit, a first round exit and a first round exit.  Why And those were just weighted to count a bit more.  So I can easily believe the one elite eight did not outweigh the two first round and one second round exits.    Is that four season window a+?

I'm guessing that post-season success is not the only factor in calculating prestige. RPI is probably a component, and that is probably what is holding LSU back. Their average RPI over the 4-year window is "only" 30.
