These six players were Type A FA that were not bid on. All 6 signed for 1-year deals, so the draft picks I lost this year are (at least potentially) made up next season. Really, the picks are likely to improve, because unless one team signs them all like I did this season, I effectively turned my round 6 pick this season into a Supp Rd. pick and either a late Round 1 or early Round 2 pick next season.

These 6 were integral to making a winning team.

Without them, the Twins this season had very few quality innings available. With them, we won 91 games and took the division.

For most of the season, these 6 were the #5 through #10 highest rated players on the team (a late season callup for playoff push ended up at #10).

While this is something of an extreme case, there is almost always established talent that can fill a role available just before the start of the season, usually for short-term deal that does nothing to harm the franchise in the long run, but helps keep a team competitive in the present season.

With all the 1-season deals coming off the books, we have cap room next season to chase a big FA is needed, plus (at least potentially) a better bevy of draft picks to restock the system than we would have had this season had we not signed any Type A FA.

They may not, hence the multiple uses of "at least potentially."

Then again, maybe someone who saw they still have something left in the tank will take a shot on them.

I'll let you in on a secret.   They either won't be signed, and you can get them on the cheap again, or they'll only be signed if someone does mass signings so you'll get a later pick(assuming they didn't sign someone from a 92 win team) than you think. 

Not being critical because I agree 100% with your premise about the availability of good players in ST but you didn't turn picks into better picks.

I still think it's a possibility, but it depends on a lot of different things, including such things as how the rest of the FA signings work out.

Still, it's a low/no-risk proposition. If no one wants them, as you said, I can always bring them back on the cheap. If someone else does mass signings like I did this season and gets them all, then I end up effectively trading my S19 picks round 1-6 for S20 picks round 1-6 or 2-7 plus 6 supplemental picks.

They only real risk is if they *all* drop off a cliff so badly that *I* don't even want them anymore, in which case I lost the 27th, 101st, 133rd, 165th, 197th, and 229th picks for a playoff season. I'll do that every time. If even one gets signed, then I've (roughly) traded those 101-133-165-197-229 picks for a supplemental round pick. Given my general inability to pluck ML players from beyond the early picks, even that isn't too bad.
