Fix D1 Please!! Topic

No substance here...just my plea to whoever the heck works on this game to fix D1 already. I keep fighting with my competitive attitude because I want to play at the highest level, but it's just impossible. Obviously I may just not be a very good coach, but it seems to me that dethroning the A+'s on the east coast is simply an impossible task. This is a computer game, not real life, everyone should should have a chance imo, especially when you offer free seasons for success.

sorry to pick at this post, but are you suggesting that instead of a system that rewards coaches that have success (by letting them be eligible for the top jobs) we should instead assign them by lottery? Maybe a draft? I'm not sure what you are suggesting as an alternative to the current system, but I personally think rewarding success is a pretty legit method as it is...

he's just saying that maintaining A+ should be more difficult. Not that it should be easier to be A or A-.

is he? if so, I guess I read too much into it. Although I don't think there are a whole lot of A+ baseline teams that aren't generally winning a lot of games are there?
6/5/2013 11:59 PM
Wouldn't that be because once your A+ you gotta be pretty **** to fall from there?

i dunno - I finally got to my first one (assuming Michigan State truly is one) and am partway through my 3rd season of rebuilding...if I do get them back up to A+ I'll let you know

Lottery? Yea that isn't even in the ballpark of what I meant lol

you could consider explaining more about what you meant, if you want this thread to produce useful discussion.  Some smart folks are not understanding your point from what you said.

I'll take a shot at it.  He's saying that once certain BCS teams (primarily on the East coast apparently) reach an A+ prestige, that they are nearly impossible to knock off the pedestal.  The rich (big conferences) get richer, and the little guy (mid-majors) suffer, so to speak.  Close?

I agree.  They are rewarded for success, but never suffer consequences for failure.  In our world, an A+ two seasons ago had a losing record and went to the PI.
Still kept his A+.  Another school in that conference just went 0-16 in conference but is still a B-.  A third school in that conference has gone to the tournament once in the last 15 seasons and is an A prestige.  Its okay to reward success, but make the A+ and A prestige have some value.  If you fail you should earn it back, not just have it handed to you.

probably not what he meant exactly, but close.   he coaches seton hall, and BC, Uconn and Syracuse are monsters in Iba recruiting, so it would be difficult for him to improve his club to their level as they take all the big recruits he would need to compete at their level.   I understand his pain somewhat, as I just gave up at Umass and moved to a big 6 school cause I was tired of losing my recruits to bigger schools.  Although, in the ultimate irony, it was his Seton Hall club that took 2 of my Umass recruits last year that pushed me out the door.  Such is life.  However, as seton hall has won 2 of the last 5 knight titles, you can win there.

It can be done.  I've seen Colorado do well.  Heck, I even won a NT with Iowa State.  It's just not easy.

It used to be possible to compete from the mid majors.  I'm not sure it is any more.  There just doesn't seem to be many good recruits that fall through the cracks any more.
