Well that isn't entirely true, but I haven't played in many years.  The reason I quit is because I was too young and dumb to understand everything.  I have read over the "Hoops Dynasty Player's Guide", is that enough to secure more success and fun for me?  Or does anybody else want to take a new guy under his wing? :)

Would be good to read. I would also be happy to answer questions - as would a great many other coaches here.

I am originally from a small town a little east of Cincinnati.  Now I am up getting my MBA at a small school kind of close to Toledo, Ohio.

if you need help, find a mentor. I'm not going to pretend to be great at this game, but I'd be willing to help through sitemail.

I would refer to this post: http://www.whatifsports.com/forums/Posts.aspx?TopicID=475077&TopicsTimeframe=30, to get an understanding of the value of scouting reports in recruiting. My first recruiting class with my team I had 6 open scholarships and focused on work ethic, second class had 4 scholarships, and that year I really focused on guys who had multiple potential categories that could increase. The first group of players improved so quickly (I gave them a lot of playing time first two seasons) they are all pretty much low potential in every single category before the start of their senior year. The second group who I initially would have more room to improve because of their potentials often lost their average or high potentials much more quickly than I expected. Third year with 1 open scholarship I put an emphasis on scouting reports and landed a guy who has high-high (28+ improvement) in 4 or 5 categories so I'm expecting him to be a monster. I would definitely recommend using them, they seem to me like they can be the difference between getting an all-american or a bench player.

Good luck - I would also be willing to help. I grew up in Cincinnati (Hyde Park area), but live in the Atlanta area now. If none of those links go to the aejones thread of how to win at d2 and d3, you definitely want to read that.

Good luck! Update this thread when you pick a team and or offensive/defensive set. There could be some help available for which players to recruit based on your set. In general a good player is a good player but some are better than others depending on the set you choose

I just want to be more competitive than I was last time I played, I was an easy win for the SIMS it seemed like!   But I have been doing my research on all aspects and hope to be a little more competitive.  It seems like even recruiting classes are the way to go!  I still would love a mentor though to help me with questions that I will undoubtedly have!!  Like tips on recruiting, game planning, distribution... you know, everything!
