I know this is a topic of discussion every time recruiting is going on, but..... When I pull someone down, is there kind of a not in the scouting report that says I did so?  Or will I just see him at my level of recruiting randomly?  New to this so just trying to make sure.  Thanks!

Short answer: No, not in the scouting report.

If a recruit you've contacted drops down to you on his own, you'll usually receive an email to let you know he's recruitable.

If you're pulling him down, you'll see that he starts to accept effort like home visits - or if you've already offered him a scholarship, he might start considering you.

Yeah I have checked after every scouting trip cycle, though I know it is waaaaaay to early for him to be pulled.  But ya got a first timer here!!

Couple things:


1. Most of the time, after 10 ST's the guy is considering you.  That's your "note".
2. Some times (for a variety of reasons) you can successful pull  a guy down but he doesn't consider you right away.  Sometimes, you get an obvious positive message at the end of ST email.  Sometimes you don't.
3. When you pull a guy down he doesn't show up on your Division search.   For a D3 team, if you pull a guy down, he'll still be on your D2 search.

Ok, if he doesn't consider me, no obvious message at the end (which by the way what do they read?), and no search... how do I know??

Start sending HV's.   If he accepts, he is pulled down.  If he  doesn't , he isn't.

After 10, I usually send 2 ST and 1 HV.  

The obvious messages are like:

His uncle  said he loved us
He looked up during the game to make sure I was there
The other coaches are in our league

stuff like that.

True. That's how you know he dropped because he should be considering you.  
What's interesting is based on the OP's comment before about being too early to be pulled down (since I dont know what that means. It sounds like you sending 1 ST per cycle.  That doesn't make sense to me.  As far as Im concerned the reason to pull a player down is because you want to be the first one on him.  When I'm pulling down I always go right to 10 ST's.  If you have enough patience to send 1 per cycle until he considers you, you may as well wait until he drops and save the money.  Otherwise you're asking for trouble if he drops during that time or someone else pulls him down.
Is that what you are doing?  Or are you aggressively pilling a player down?

really TJ?  I haven't had that happen to me.  How many ST's do you think you need to get a player to consider you?  3 minimum?  Can you pull a player down with that few?  
It also could have been a mixture of you attempting to pull a player down and him happening to drop at the next cycle.  But it could also be that I'm wrong about some of my assumptions.  Either way, your case is rare.  Usually if you pull a player down he is considering you.

No not at all... going after him hard.  As I said, I've never pulled down so I don't know the correct way to do it.  I didn't know if sending 10 at once would be toooooo much or if thats the way to go, so I've been sending 2-3 a cycle.

1.  I always start with 10 STs and a scholarship.  Some people claim to have done it with fewer but I have never tried.
2. The cases are uncommon, not rare.   There's usually  a reason.   The big one I have noticed lately is when the guy is less than 70 miles and he wouldn't normally consider you.   The other is when someone else is being considered all ready.   Here's an example:

I think  I pulled him down somewhere between 10-15 ST but it wasn't enough to be considered because someone else was on him all ready.  The bar had shifted higher.


This also happens sometimes when you recruit a local player who normally wouldn't consider you.  The better the player the more effort needed to have him consider you.  Sometimes there is a  space between the effort required to pull a guy down and what's needed for him to consider you.

Most of this I learned from killbatman, he is more knowledgeable about this than me.
