Game is a Joke Topic

This game is a complete joke. Did a minimal amount of research and it appears that there is a core of players that are used continuously by the same owners. Owners use the same core of players over and over again. Some teams use the same player for different years on the same team. Saw one team with 3 pitchers and 4 batters , because used same players multiple time on same team. You guys are just about playing stats and NOT about straight up competition. Most of you probably never picked up a baseball. Just sit in front of computer and play video games. Have fun little geeks!

Check it out tea called Cookies and Cream had following:

Raines 5 times
Howard Johnson 2 times
Segui 3 times
Roberts 2 times
Gary Carter 1
Joss 3 times
Hoffman 9 times on same team

You have got to be kidding. Reason to never play the game again. Over and out

I totally understand (and somewhat agree) with how some of the player repetition takes the fun/sport out of drafting a team, but a few things to consider:
  • the name "Cookies and Cream" should have been a red-flag for most/all of the cookie-cutters you mentioned
  • most/all of the cookie-cutters you mentioned are good, have good stats, and usually perform well in the sim; why fix what aint broke?
  • sometimes clones are part of a theme, whether it's just the theme of one team, or, more likely, the theme of the league
  • there are dozens of theme leagues to choose from (and countless ideas to come up with yourself) to avoid leagues with clones like this
  • You own a team named Lunatic Fringe. That's awesome. (Red Rider is the truth.)

could also join progressive leagues where there is only 1 instance of a player in the entire league and most are all same year players

wonder why flouder1 would pick the live forum to complain. Looked him up and he has never played a live game?

Maybe he knows us nutjobs are active enough on this site and forum for the curt responses we provided.

I felt the same way when I started out and still do to some degree. I woud not have said it like he did. I follow baseball as much as anyone and can not get the hang of this game. Granted I know next to nothing about computers and have no idea what a cookie is unless I can eat it. There are a few people who dominate this and obviously know something about this game that some of us dummies dont. I would put me knowledge of baseball up against anyone but it took me 25,000 games before I won anything. I am notsaying there is cheating or anything just that some people know how to win at this game or maybe know what to look for on the players. I don't know but it is what it is as they say so I guess I will have to play another 25,000 before I can get another win. lol

I noticed the use the favoritism of use of certain star players in some open leagues. If such thing bothers you, you may want to try leagues such as franchise leagues, random years, or MVP/CY Young/Rook of the Year (Random Year assigned). Excessive use of the same players by several teams is avoided in these leagues ...

I don't meen to say anyone is doing anything wrong please don't take it that way. I have every right to use the same players. I am doing a poor job of explaining myself so I think I will stop.

i hear what you're saying bublooo, i struggled with the same kind of things when i first started playing.

I will say that I think the key to success in WIS (and others certainly win a lot higher percentage of their games than me) has a lot more to do with understanding the logic the sim engine uses than it does having an encyclopedic knowledge of professional baseball.

I've actually found my knowledge of real baseball decreasing the more time I spend on WIS.

Classic, Tdiddy sums it all up with just one sentence. LMAO

Although, now that I think about it. What was Mr. Flounder trying to tell us? That we are a bunch of dumb ***** for paying and playing a
rigged game. Or was he just saying good bye to all of us and that he would miss us greatly.
