I already have a good amount of defense and pitching. The two areas I need help are catcher and a power/clean up hitter. I don't need much pitching help at all.

I have a top pick in the Draft. So please help me rank these four players so that I will presumably get the best left over.

What are your scouting budgets?
4/24/2017 10:20 PM
12 Million Scouting Across the Board for each kind.
4/24/2017 10:40 PM
Yeah, $12M sounds right, since a lot of those ratings are wonky. Hard to trust $12M. You should pick HS or Col and go $20M.

Also, shouldn't put their names in the post. If owners from your world with low/no scouting see your post you've just given them info they shouldn't have.

Throwing arm and which side of the plate they bat from are also important info.

Also, I'd argue pitching is your biggest need after looking at your roster. Big bats at C/1B/DH/COF can oftentimes be had for cheap compared to any other positions.

I'd rank that low DUR catcher 5th and hope to pick him up with your second pick (unless you've got another top 15 pick). Won't help a ton in the regular season but would be amazing to have in the playoffs.

That's great advice Brian, I agree and ave him at 5 in hopes that exact situation occurs. I was thinking I could catch him for Wendell Houston during the regular season and use him in playoffs.

Did you look at my AAA team? I have some decent starters. Did you mean I need help with relief or another quality starter?

Thanks in advance. My draft is tonight so please stay on and help me if you don't mind. It would be very much appreciated!

Also, I added the Arm and Batting side of plate.

Formating makes it hard to compare the players but I'd probably go 9,2,1 then 5 or 6. If 6 is a Switch hitter or lefty, I'd put him above 5.

Take player 7 and keep your medical at 20.
4/25/2017 8:27 AM
7, 1, 9, 3, 5

#7 is by far the better player but the ratings are probably not realistic and the only rating that is probably close to accurate is the scary Health.

Better advise.. take the 12/12 scouting and max it out on just one. 12 scouting is pretty bad.. I normally max out on one and if the draft pool looks weak I draft an unsignable guy and try again the next season.. If you have 18-20 scouting you will see more reliable projections and most of the best guys. You can normally get a pretty good player late in the draft..

With 12/12 and the 4th pick I would be pretty nervous

Actually, back up plan. Pick a guy who 'probably won't sign' offer his initial demands then punt the draft and take the 4th pick next year when you are 16/16.

9 and 5 are the ones who will still be good major league players if your projections are off by a few points across the board. Take one of them, or go with hockey1984's plan.

DO NOT TAKE 7. That 25 is his durability, not his health; he'll be able to catch about once-twice a week before he starts to fatigue and play worse, and/or get hurt. Furthermore, you won't be able to get him enough playing time to develop him to his"real" projections, so he will be even worse than you think when he gets to age 27. He's not a bad pick for late round 1 or round 2, but not at pick 4.

There's an easy fix for that. You put him as the first sub in your player rest hierarchy in the minors. Set player rest settings to activate for 1 run ahead or behind in the 7th/8th inning. That guy plays in every game which is what triggers the development cycles. I would argue this is a good strategy for all top prospects if you are worried about injuries. It's a cheap trick but it works.

Thanks for all the input guys. I wound up getting # 1 and # player 7. I have advanced scouting of 14 and here is what they look like (probably not accurate).

Player 1 - 3B - Age 19 - L/R 84 overall - 65 range 71 glove 72 throw power 74 throw accuracy 98 durability 80 health 34 speed 65 makeup 56 contact 92 power 72 Vs. L 84 Vs. R 71 eye 51 base run

Player 7 - C - Age 22 - R/R - 56 overall - 24 range 32 glove 86 throw power 90 throw accuracy 80 pitch call 31 durability 59 health 46 speed 77 makeup 93 contact 100 power 98 vs. L 94 vs. R 73 eye 41 base run

and I got a pitcher who I had ranked 11th:

Player 11 (NOT published earlier on this list but for reference) - P - 19 - R/R - 70 overall - 85 durability 77 health 98 makeup 34 stamina 90 control 62 vsL 75 vs.R 27 velocity 18 ground/fly 80 pitch 1 90 pitch 2 0 pitch 3,4,5

Thoughts?

ugh, i read player #7 wrong earlier.. missed the DUR.
4/26/2017 12:47 AM
Yeah Will, Brutal. Like Brian said, save him to catch for my ACE and also for playoffs. Lol.
