Percentage point attributes Topic

I just had four of a freshman's attributes change colors after the first exhibition game. His athleticism went red, his defense went black, his ball handling went orange, and his stamina went orange, all without moving up a single point.

I know this is just bad luck, but it's a real bummer because he's already a different player from the one I recruited after just one game.

Is this something that should be addressed or am I just being salty?

What's to be addressed? Are you asking for an ironclad set of universal improvements based on colors, e.g. orange always goes up a max of exactly 11 points?

No, not at all. I just don't like the color changes without moving a point. If, say, his defense went black after moving up one, it will still suck, but it would be better than this. I don't like the hidden percentage points.

It's hella annoying but it's something you have to live with.

I sympathize, it's a bummer, but what's your proposed solution? Colors only change when you go up/down a full integer? I'm not sure that's really better.

Honestly, yes. Sure, it wouldn't be much better, but at least I could justify it. "Ok, this recruit was only a point away from that attribute turning red. I took a chance when I recruited him that it would stay orange longer, o'well."

I like that there isn't a universally set range for each color, that sometimes you get lucky with a player and sometimes you don't. But losing colors without progression, especially four at once, seems unnecessary harsh.

But they are progressing.

If anything, the color changing without an integer change gives you bonus information about the progress.

I guess. I would just rather it work on whole integers. I was hoping this player would be a real stud for my team. This changes things.

Your solution would have kept you in the dark on the issue for an extra day or two, with the same end result -- the kid is what he is.

Again, I sympathize, but I think you're just salty.

That's fair.

It does work on whole integers (players are generated with attributes defined as XX.000000 and the max improvements are also generated as integer numbers YY.000000 where a player's maximum attribute is defined as XX+YY which again will be an integer).

The remaining improvement is also color coded (Red = Under 3, Orange Under 7, Black Under 21, Blue Under 28, Green 28+) and when your player gets generated with the absolute minimum in a color range, then when a player improves any fraction portion then he drops into the next color range below.

I guess one solution would be to never generate a new recruit with the lowest allowed value in a color range (ex. nobody gets assigned 21 points of improvement) but then would that means nobody is generated with exactly 79 points and blue (which you would know would max out at 100) for example.

I hope all my recruits become real studs for my team. Until 20 minutes ago, I thought I was the only one.

Yes, you're being salty but it happens to everyone sooner or later. And, just guessing, we all think it sucks.

We've all been there, man.

The black range is the most speculative when the starting attribute is from 60 - 75. It will mean the difference between blah and excellence.

You have a fantasy draft tommorow. Stay happy.
