They are allowing seble to hire someone to help him.

That's pretty encencuraging.

Just curious, which changes would you like to see?

I want playoff stats kept, things like batting titles recorded

^^+100^^

For the league leader stats:
As easy as bolding the stat on the player card like they used to do on Topps baseball cards.

I'd like to see injuries fixed. It's bad enough when a guy gets hurt for the year, but unless your medical is 16 or better, you are also likely to lose massive ratings. Losing a season is going to happen, but the loss massive value is just too much.

Make Health mean something. A 99 health guy should either not be able to be lost for the season or he should have all of his ratings back when he returns. Can't ding him for both.

Make ML coaches signable for more than one season. Hiring coaches is such a mundane task. Reduce that.

Fix the flood of ML free agents. I get it that some owners like to hoard prospects, but marginal minor leaguers asking for major league contracts is insane and makes the minors less enjoyable. If you are trying to create space for the next draft class, up the retirements. Otherwise, add some quality to the minor league free agent options. At minimum, let some of them accept minor league deals after spring training or the first few weeks of the season.

Love to have more individual player settings, instead of overall team settings. Like base stealing, base running....

Let guys float between college and high school easier. If a guy wants to be 20 in high school one year and 20 in college the next, no biggie. It's the same budget or should be. Or go to a general scouting budget for the draft.

Give us some more advanced metrics....not a huge hangup, but would be nice.

This is just a few off the top of my head.

The navigation to activate/ deactivate players needs to be easier, maybe put on the lineup screen. There should be a big overhaul to fix ease of use in other areas as well.

Maybe the Powers that be at HBD feel that it is a finished product and if they mess with the current code, with the intention of making updates, they might screw it up.

Piggybacking on this, let's think.

HBD - many of these WiS products - were conceived and/or written before smartphones came on market.

Possibly/likely before even the Fox Sports ownership.

Currently one programmer is on staff. We've been told they're looking to hire more. We haven't been told they have.

With all respect, I'd guess that one guy wasn't around when the original games were written.

If you're the same age I was when I started playing this - and you're probably much younger - you probably think everything here could use a complete rewrite.

Look how long it took for the 2017-18 seasons simply to be added to the databases.

This is a piece of intellectual property that was mismanaged and left to sit by previous ownership. Its originators are no longer here. Until new money is invested into it by current ownership, we users are in the situation of enjoying what we have.

damag is completely correct. seble wrote (and twice re-wrote) Hoops Dynasty (HD)-- he was around at the beginning, when WifS was independently owned and operated--but I'm nearly certain he didn't write HBD. tzentmeyer and patrickm885 and kyleboon and a few others did-- and they're all gone.

Apart from the fact that there's only one programmer, in order to make non-cosmetic changes you'd have to dive into massive amounts of 15-year-old code written by somebody else and figure out how to make those changes. An overhaul would thus be slow, excruciating, and prone to being incredibly buggy. Also, as seble learned when he overhauled HD 3 years ago, any overhaul is more likely to drive away existing customers than attract new ones. And I say this as someone who really likes the new HD.

I don't think we'll ever see engine changes in HBD.

I don't have much to add here, but I certainly and sincerely appreciate the background on this. It is nice that folks care enough, and have been around long enough, to provide their insight and the color behind it.

I like the game as is. A few tweaks here and there always are understandable, but a complete overhaul is more likely to drive me away than to satisfy me.
Yep, this is how I feel. This is really good product that could use some minor tweaks but is still a good product without those tweaks.

I would like easier interaction with the data. As someone who likes to pull to excel, and run my own flawed formulas and stats it would be nice to download my games data without having to navigate thru multiple screens. As an example, if I want to calculate FIP for pitchers, you have to go to the player stats page and view reg pitching stats and extended pitching stats(to get the HBPs)
