Territorial Progressive Full Thanks Everyone Topic

I really like Progressive Leagues, and plan on eventually playing mainly them. The one thing I find strange about a lot of them is often the team name has little or nothing to do with the players rostered. I have Braves and Brooklyn teams with no players from those franchises. If 15 other people will join me this will be different.

When you sign up you will name a pitcher and hitter from the 1950 version of your franchise as your Territorials. You will also name one legacy player from before 1950. I will use my hometown Phils as an example:

I would name Roberts and Ashburn as my Territorials and Pete Alexander as my legacy. They would remain mine as long as they were with the franchise through good and bad. Roberts had both, believe me! We would draft the other 22 roster spots.

Roberts would be on my active roster every year from 1950 through 1961. I would then replace him with a rookie Phillies Pitcher (DENNIS BENNETT 1962-1964.)
Ashburn would be here from 1950-1959; (replaced by rookie Clay Dalrymple 1960-68)
Alexander would have his 1911-17 seasons used in order, and then be replaced by another Legacy (Ed Delahanty?)

No DH,WW, below average AAA, Stadium franchise used in 1950
When league hits expansion era, we will not Expand but use those players to broaden our draft pool.

I started in 1950, because I am old enough that I actually saw Ashburn & Roberts at Connie Mack before they left. I was a little kid whose Dad loved and played semipro baseball.

I would like to try it , please join me!

So I could only pick a franchise that was around in 1950? So no Mariners or Diamondbacks? What about legacy players? Could you use Cy Young for the indians and Red sox, and if so could you only use those players they were on the said team?

The franchise would have to be around in 1950 because you start with a pitcher and a hitter from a 1950 team.
you could use cy young from which ever team but you could only use him the seasons he plays for the 1950 team you select.
fatguyrd, plz correct me if I’m wrong.

Disco & Theo the Indians were also the Naps, Bronchos, and Blues between 1901-14 per Baseball Reference.
Disco is correct on everything else.

Thanks for starting us off.

I would like to play using the Washington Senators.

Not much from the territorial players, but that legacy guy is pretty good.

Hitter - Eddie Yost 1950-1958
Pitcher - Connie Marrero 1950-1954

Legacy - Walter Johnson 1907-1927

One more question. Bob feller plays until 1956, could I use him as my legacy as he starts his career in the 30's?

Can we draft anyone, anyteam from 1950? I would suggest a draw for r1 & next 22 in reverse.
#1 picks first in R1, & next odd rounds
#24 picks last in Rl & 1 in R2 & next even rounds

just an idea

Theo, Feller would be your legacy, you would use his 1936 season in 1950, and move up one season out a time till you finally use his 1956 season.

bpamaco, welcome! Every year. We I’ll draft the other22 players. Yes, I plan on a snake style draft. This years draft positions will be determined by random.org. After that, by w-l record with the first 4 picks decided by random.
