RECRUITING CREDIT:
During the active recruiting periods, every 6 hours, a process will run to process recruiting actions (attention points, home visits, campus visits, guaranteed starts and playing time promises). You'll get recruiting credit at that time.
For example, say a coach assigns 10 attention points to Player A and 20 points to Player B. When each cycle runs, those points are counted toward building interest for the recruit in that school. The more points assigned to a player, the more credit that school gets. The credit stays on that player, even if attention points are then shifted to another player in the following cycle.
For each recruiting action that generates credit, the amount of credit is modified by the school's prestige as well as how your school matches up with the recruit's preferences
I don't really understand this at all. Would someone be able to handicap if for me and break it down for a person with no experience
The number of open scholarships you have determines how many attention points you’ll have to distribute every cycle - it’s 20 as a base, then 20 more per open scholarship. You’ll need to get a recruit interested in your program via attention points, before he’ll accept a scholarship offer, or any other type of effort. So the way you set up your attention points essentially represents how you are prioritizing your potential targets.
At D3, you’ll typically need to invest 75+ AP in D1 and higher level D2 guys (sometimes a little less, sometimes quite a bit more, depending on your prestige, and how you stack up with his preferences). It accumulates, so you can get there by pumping 25 per cycle over 3 cycles, 15 per cycle over 5 cycles, or 5 per cycle over 15. Whatever you want. Other teams may also be trying to get him to accept their effort, it can be very competitive for the good looking recruits. And while you’ll want to be playing mostly in the D1 and D2 player pools, higher level teams could swoop in and take your targets, if you’re reaching too high. The guys who might be a D3 Star for you is probably on the radar of D2 and lower level D1 teams, at least as a backup option. So even if you’re the only guy on him for a while, depending on the player and who is around, it often makes sense to keep a fair amount of attention points on him every cycle, even after you’ve offered a scholarship.
