Heads Up - Stadium Updates Topic

Hello HBD players,

I wanted to give you all a heads up because I know it will have some impact on the teams you have built, but we have started the process of auditing and updating all stadiums in HBD, for our March or April patch (usually the 2nd or 3rd Thursday is when we aim for).

Some of these will be simply cosmetic, as in the name of the stadium, but others like the Metrodome to Target Field for the Minneapolis franchise will have park factor adjustments as well.

There is no way with how the current game is developed to upgrade worlds individually. Which means these adjustments could potentially occur at various different points of the season for all of you, which sucks I know. This update will feel more substantial, but our hope is to keep up with stadiums more actively in the future so these adjustments will feel smaller.

If you would be willing to give all the various leagues a heads up it would be appreciated, I asked the past development team and there is no way to send a message out to all commissioners.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

-WIS Team

Is it mostly mlb park updates that will have park factor updates (I.e. Target Field, New Yankee Stadium, etc.)? Or if a new minor league park gets impacted will we see park factor updates as well?

Also, thank you for this. I think the stadium update is the most frequent update request I have seen on the boards since I started playing this game.

I am auditing every park in HBD, so if the park in your city's ball park has changed or been updated we will update it accordingly.

I think we may try to find the most up to date park factors from like baseball reference or something to bring the parks up to 2020 as well. :-)

That's pretty friggin cool.

Any new cities and parks or simply updating existing?

Thinking updates like Charlotte from Knights Castle to Truist Field. This probably turns Charlotte into a hitters park from a neutral park.

What about parks like Tacoma?

This patch is going to be updating what is existing cities. The next steps will be adding some more cities and parks to the list, I don't have a timeline on that yet.

Thanks for asking.

So parks for teams currently in use will get changed mid season? That's not ok in my opinion. Changes are ok. Changes middle of the season or that require budget changes when we can only move 4 million at a time need to be done differently or you are going to drive out owners.

Why would a park update require a budget change?

I think we need to realize that Chris and Adam are working on more than HBD and if we're asking them to deploy updates like these on a World by World basis, even if that's possible, my guess is that it would make the deployment infinitely more difficult. I would much rather have the update mid-season, deal with the "possible" park factor updates for a percentage of a season than have to wait another year for the update to occur because they have to be more thoughtful on how it's deployed. Once the season is over, I can re-evalute if I want to change my stadium after roll. As mentioned above, even if a World by World update is possible, I would imagine that type of deployment would take up way too much time and take Chris and Adam away from working on other updates like injury recovery.

I sincerely appreciate the staduim update as it's been one of the most frequent and consistent requests I've seen on the boards. If we're really looking to appease the potential veteran owner or, at the very least, prevent the veteran owner from leaving HBD as suggested above, for any new stadium updates where the city/state/province has had a new staduim built, the current staduim can remain intact. For instance, there is a chi1 and chi2 or a ny1 and ny2 staduim. We could have a Min1 (metrodome), Min2 (Target Field). Just an idea. This won't solve the issue though if the plan is to have regular updates to park factors. There will always be owners that don't like in season park factor updates especially if they perceive that the park factored into their game 7 loss in the World Series.

" There is no way with how the current game is developed to upgrade worlds individually. "

This way or the highway; I'll take it.

Tacoma still plays in Cheney Stadium. There might be a more updated milb park factor than the 2019 one posted above, but the one above still has Tacoma as a pitchers park. Maybe not a -4 across the board like HBD has it now, but it is still considerably a pitchers park.
