***TYPING THIS OUT WHILE ON BREAK AT WORK, WILL BE BACK WITH MORE DETAILS SOON***
Haven't seen this kind before, so giving it a try.
A progressive, with season soup rules applied.
On sign-up, take a pre-defined 25 year period. You must draft 1 player from each season to be on your roster. (the Soup part) That player does not need to be a rookie, just a player whom has a WIS season, that particular season. Each player then progress's forward to their next available WIS season, and then fills the appropriate slot on the next season, if you wish to keep them. (the Yahtzee part)
Example, I pick the 1941-1965 team. I need one player from 41, 42, 43, 44, 45 etc on my roster. On the initial draft, I was lucky enough to get the #1 pick and chose Ted Williams. I could slot him in any of his WIS seasons, (41, 42, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60) if I wanted to. Seems like I would want to use him in my 1941 slot, using his 1941 season. The next season, if I wanted to keep him, he would then occupy my 1942 slot with his 1942 season. That also reopens the 1941 slot to be filled by another player. The player that was in the 1942 slot need to progress to his 1943 (or their next WIS available season) season or be traded/waived. Players progress every season, to their next WIS available season. Once they are unused for a season, they are eligible to be reset. Cut/retired players are considered one and the same. Need to sit out a year.
Not So Basic Rules
Salary cap - Nope
AAA - Nope
IR - Nope;... ie Ted Williams. If you were lucky enough to have him in your 1942 slot, and now it is the next season, you can progress Ted to his 1946 season and take that slot. If that slot is filled with someone else, you need to waive or trade one of them.
DH - Yes
Clones - NOPE
Trades - Yes, players only, no picks, with a massive restriction.
During the season, you cannot break your season soup;
- If you trade a 1987 player, you need to get a 1987 season back. There is no twisting. If you trade for 87 Rickey Henderson, he is 87 Rickey. You can't turn Ricky into 85 Rickey to make Rickey fit. You can trade multiple players in one deal, but the years MUST work out;
- With that being said, in the off season, you could mis-trade years, as in trade 68 Yaz for 88 Rickey. But, during the draft, both teams need to make it right, as in Rickey takes your 88 slot, and someone else fills the '68 slot. The in-season team MUST always have the correct soup years, no double-booking
WW - hell no
Keepers - up to 25. In fact, you must keep at least 15. No more than 10 players can be replaced during the draft. I want to reduce this to 7, but I think we need to see how this plays out first, before going that far. With that being said, it's a progressive, not a find the best 1 year wonders out there, so that's why there is a limit on how many picks you can have.
Draft Order - Initial draft it will be random, snake style, except for 1st round. The 1995-2019 team will pick 24th. (1st draft, 1st rd only) This is due having an exclusive season to choose from. The 95-19 team will pick where it was randomized to in the 2nd rd and after (where it should be) . (1941 team has an exclusive season too, but the talent/overlap of players is not the same).
- 2nd season and drafts after will be worst to first, each round. Tie breaker will be better exp pct gets the higher pick. Trading of picks is not allowed. Tanking should not be an issue due to not knowing who is or isn't available ahead of time. One season could not have a lot of high end talent, and another could have many hall of famers in need of a restart. All depends on where people slot them initially.
When drafting a player, you must pick him and the year you are slotting him into; ie I pick 1970 Jim Palmer.. To keep up with the Yahtzee theme, you can't decide to move him to another year after you draft him. Make that choice when you draft him, and he progress's from there,
Stadium/City - Must be one that is available during your time period. No using the Palace, and no using Coors with the 1941-66 team. The years used and location must be referenced in the team name. Nickname part is up to you; As in 72-97 Queens Fartknockers or whatever.
Stadiums are semi exclusive; Two teams can occupy the same real estate. For this purpose, name changes are the same stadium - Kauffman and Royal Stadium are the same. But, Baltimore, Camden Yards and Memorial are different stadiums. After 5 seasons, you can relocate to another unoccupied city/stadium if you wish. We will pick the stadium with your 25th pick, at the same time.
Divisions: 24 team, Six 4-team divisions. Wild Card in each league. Standard WIS format. Random alignment each season. Will shuffle it twice every season, before it begins.
Timeframes. These are set. They don't move. if you pick 1941-1966, that's your time frame from now until this thing of ours ends. They are also preset. You can't modify it. The time frames are exclusive. The players are exclusive. There is enough talent to go around, without building pure monster squads.

One-year wonder rule, aka the Sam Horn/Shane Spencer/Pete Alonso rule. You cannot use the same player in back to back seasons, in the same slot. The player must progress.
EX: In season 1, you drafted 1987 Sam Horn, in season 2, you would have to progress him to 1988 and keep, waive, or trade him. If he is waived in 1988 (which seems like the logical choice), he needs to spend a season on the shelf. Another team cannot chose him as a 1987 player in season 2. He is 1988 Sam Horn. We will keep this list of cut players. If he went unused in season 2, which he would, then in season 3, he is able to be selected at 1987 Sam Horn again (or 1991 is you choose for some reason?). This applies to the 2019 players too. The 95-19 team cannot draft, cut, and reuse a 2019 player over and over again. Needs to progress and sit a season out. This does not mean you cannot use a player that only has a single season available; You and everyone else can't just use that player over and over again.
Other items or questions:
- Player eligibility. You are the 41-65 team. You draft Carl Yastrzemski, and decide to start him in 1963. Season 1 you get his 63 season in the 63 slot. Season 2, he progress's to your 64 slot with his 64 season. Season 3, he could be moved to your 65 slot with his 65 season. Going into the season 4, he has no further seasons for you. You would have two choices:
1. Progress and waive him. 66 Yaz would sit out the season. Not being eligible to return untill season 5, when, he would be reset, and eligible to fill in any of his seasons (1961-1983)
2. Trade him prior to the draft. You can trade 66 Yaz to a team that could roster him. For something that would fit into your roster. Once the draft is ready to begin, 66 Yaz is not yours.
3. Lets say you traded Yaz. The team that has him, keeps him through 1983. Yaz retires. He "progress's" to 1984 and has to sit out a season. After sitting out for the season, he gets reset.
Cut players and retiring players are treated the same; need to sit out a season.
