Which season's World Series had the best combined talent from the two participating teams? This is an ongoing theme league designed to figure that out. We are just about finished with season 4 and are looking for some new owners to join us for season 5.
The basic idea is simple. Pick a season from 1903-2021 except for 1904 (no World Series), 1994 (no World Series), or any season on the blacklist (see next post), and build your 25 man roster from the 2 teams that made the World Series that season. No twisting. No restriction on how many players come from which team.
Each season, returning owners will be given right of first refusal to keep their same team, except for teams on the blacklist. We will permanently blacklist the two teams that make the world series in this league each season.
Cap: 80M (this will mean that you almost certainly cannot use all of the best players)
DH: No
AAA: No
Trades: No
WW: No
Injuries: On (be sure to draft enough PA and IP, as there will be no help available for you if you get into a fatigue problem)
Park: Must be one used by one of your two teams during your chosen season
Clones: No
Alignment: Random
Note there is NO exception for low-salary players. All 25 players on your roster must come from the two teams that made the World Series in your chosen season. For some seasons, this makes for a very tricky roster build, especially considering the next rule below.
Multi-team players: You may only use the partial season version associated with your team. NO COMBINED SEASONS may be used (even in the unlikely case that a player appeared for both world series teams in a given season). I will be verifying rosters and will send you back to the drawing board if you used a combined season. The easiest way to avoid this, when using the advanced search features, is to set the Season Type drop-down menu to "Full/Partial."
Lastly - VERY IMPORTANT - when you go to enter your team, there will be a link at the top of the draft center that you have to click to enter your chosen season. This is not something you see in most themes, and many of you will not have encountered it before. If you do not do this, you will get an error when you try to enter your team in the league.
As with all of my themes, there will be a firm (and prompt) deadline for getting your team entered, once the league number has been sent out. Please do not join this theme if you have struggled to get teams in on time in the past, or if you think you will not be able to have a team built and entered very quickly.
