DIY Immaculate Grid - $100M (FULL) Topic

I've been toying with ways to create a theme around the Immaculate Grid concept, so here's the first go-round. If it succeeds, we can try different combinations for future seasons. For this one, we'll stay away from deadball seasons (1920-2023).

Roster construction: You get 4 options for each spot on the grid and get to build a Do It Yourself IG. There are two groups of original franchises on the rows and columns, plus one group of expansion teams (1977-) and one collection of statistics. You pick your nine categories, then fill in your roster as such:

For 6 of your boxes, you'll have a single player who appeared with both of your chosen franchises. Use one version of each player from each of the franchises, plus one teammate from either season you select. No twisting. That gives you 18 of your players.

For 3 of your boxes, you'll have a single player who met the stat criteria and played for that franchise. Use one season he played for that team, plus one teammate from that season. No twisting. That brings you up to 24 players.

Your 25th player can be any additional teammate from any of the seasons you're using. Your stadium must be the home stadium of this 25th player.

Cap: $100 million
Seasons: 1920-2023
Clones: Yes (you'll have 6)
DH: No
Injuries: Yes
WW: No
Trades: No
AAA: No
Stadium: Must be from your 25th player.
Divisions: Random

Tool: You can use this Baseball-Reference page to see all the players available who played for your two chosen franchises.

Example: Let's say you choose Red Sox and A's for your upper left box. You decide to roster Jimmie Foxx from the 1939 Red Sox and the 1931 A's. Your teammate choices could be someone like Ted Williams' rookie year, or maybe Mickey Cochrane or Max Bishop or Lefty Grove from his A's season.

Grid Options:
Yankees/ Reds/ .300 career AVG/
Red Sox/ Senators-Twins/ 200 Wins/
Dodgers-Robins/ Indians-Guardians/ 400 HR/
Giants Braves-Bees 50+ WAR (BB-Ref)
Phillies/Athletics/Pirates/Browns-Orioles 2 clones + 1 teammate 2 clones + 1 teammate 1 player + 1 teammate
Cubs/White Sox/Cardinals/Tigers 2 clones + 1 teammate 2 clones + 1 teammate 1 player + 1 teammate
Rockies/Diamondbacks/Blue Jays/Mariners 2 clones + 1 teammate 2 clones + 1 teammate 1 player + 1 teammate

I built a first roster, so I can share the league number: MLB139101.

Please post here if you plan to join.

PS: I could easily be persuaded to boost the salary cap here to get a bit more star power. I wanted to put something out to get people going while I started building a team, but I finished before anyone else commented. This feels like a WISC-level theme, but it's good to work out some kinks and see how people like it. I'll probably start a second team and see which one I like better.

I am an avid Immaculate Grid player and this strikes me as a duly frustrating build, so count me in.

FWIW, at first glance it seems like I'd be comfortable with a somewhat higher cap.

It took me a couple days to form my first workable roster, but it was a fun process. I initially tried for 90M but didn't like how that matched up with the player pools. I'm not afraid to chuck my roster and start anew with a higher cap, but I would want to get a few more people to weigh in.

I'm in. I'd like to suggest a $120M cap for more roster flexibility.

As I said, I'm open to changes if everyone agrees. An alternative is that we plan for a Season 2 with a different cap and shifts to the grid teams and categories.

At the risk of being a Negative Nancy, in my opinion $120M is a bit too high. I feel like $110M is the sweet spot, as it usually is for theme leagues IMO.

That having been said, I'll play at $100M or $120M or anything in between.
