Hawaii has named Eran Ganot (St. Mary's asst.) as their new coach.   They bypassed Benji Taylor who has been their interim coach since Oct. 28. He coached the Rainbow Warriors to a 22-13 record and the finals of the Big West tournament.
Ganot was a former assistant for Hawai'i under two former head coaches, so he has some program ties here and familiarity. Thought Benji had done enough to earn the job during the regular season though.

Nine openings remain:   Alcorn, Bowling Green, Bucknell, Buffalo, Chattanooga, Green Bay, Kennesaw, SE Missouri, and VMI.

I predict that either Alcorn or Kennesaw will be the last to find a coach. The Kennesaw program is a train wreck. Their coach took a leave of absence mid-season 2013-14. Interim Jimmy Lallafin finished the season and coached one more before being fired in March
Kennesaw won the 2004 DII title and moved to D1 in 2006. Since then, they've been 85-220, including 10-22 this year.  Interestingly, two of their wins this season were over Alcorn and Chattanooga, both of which are seeking new coaches as well.

Alcorn is a SWAC school. It seems, each season, a SWAC school is the last one to find a coach.

I am really agreeing on DePaul C+. Heck, why not a C-...

I think the B+ on Alabama is a bit harsh, I'd give a A-.

I agree with the C- for Holy Cross. As Goodman said, Carmody, age 63, is too old for the Patriot League

Green Bay has its new head coach, according to multiple reports on Friday afternoon.

Linc Darner, the head coach of Division II Florida Southern, will replace Brian Wardle as head coach of the Horizon League program. Wardle left for to fill the same position at Bradley on March 27. In five seasons, Wardle was 95-64 (54–20) with two NIT appearances with Green Bay.

Jeff Goodman of ESPN and Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports both reported the news.

Darner, who played for Gene Keady at Purdue, led Florida Southern to the Division II national championship two weeks ago, completing a 34-1 seasons. Daniel Turner, a senior forward for the Mocs, had transferred from Green Bay.

Buffalo assistant Nate Oats wil be the Bulls' next head coach.

Oats spent 11 of the past 13 years as the head coach at Romulus High in Michigan, where he went 222-52, won seven straight conference championships and, most notably, coached Justin Moss, the current Buffalo standout and MAC Player of the Year. Oats came to Buffalo when Moss came to Buffalo. This will be his first job as a head coach at the NCAA level.

Oats replaces Bobby Hurley.

The Southeast Missourian has eported a list of candidate for the coaching vacancy at SE Missouri.
The Redhawks finished 13-17 and 7-9 in the Ohio Valley Conference last year.

The school fired its head coach Dickey Nutt after six seasons on March 23.

Ray coached at Mississippi State for three seasons. He was fired on March 21 after logging a 37-60 record with the Bulldogs. Mississippi State announced the hire of Ben Howland three days later.

The report lists four other coaches, along with Ray, as candidates. Former Missouri assistant Tim Fuller, Arkansas assistant TJ Cleveland, Oklahoma assistant Lew Hill and Virginia Tech assistant Isaac Chew were all listed as candidates.

How in the heck is Texas an A- hire?  I would think Shaka Smart would be considered a top 5 head coach (if you factor in his age) at this point.  Only young coach I'd put higher on my list would be Brad Stevens.

i thought that was a bit better of a hire, myself. maybe his personality or style doesn't quite fit? doesn't seem that way to me, with my limited knowledge. i know they've "only" made the 2nd round as a high point since his final 4, but its also VCU... and he's turned down some quality jobs already, not like they are the first to stick their neck out. VCU has been good for a while but still. the longhorns are the guys who finally managed to lure away one of the guys everyone else was taking a swing at, one of the top coaches who isn't already at a premium location. maybe thats why its an A- (because there are those guys at prime locations) but texas taking an izzo, williams, etc would be a coup. maybe the writer has a gregg marshall bias?

someone who is more informed have any guesses why that was only an A-?

I think Shaka Smart is overrated, will see if he makes me shut my mouth. So A- is allright with me. I agree with Brad Stevens, he is the best. I am not happy seeing him in Boston, we want him back in the NCAA but he did such a great job for the Celtics, I think he can do whatever he wants now.
