I'm glad we're back on track, and I'm already anticipating the thud when my team lands somewhere in the bottom third of the league. I've never done well drafting near the end of the first round in this league, but others have done so and I'm always intrigued to try.

Actually, when I started playing the old kfunk52, the common wisdom among at least some seasoned old-timers (monkee comes to mind) was that closer to 24 was more advantageous.

copernicus- what say you on being closer to 24?

Back in the old days the players defensive ratings were highly based on defensive rebounding. Players that have defensive ratings today in the 20's and 30's had defensive ratings in the 70's or even 80's. When you drafted at the end of the 1st round you could always draft a rebounding stud in the top of the 2nd. So when defense players over 75 became rare the owners started prioritizing that. Another factor was that offensive players went up in salary. One of my favorite players went from $4.5 million with 65 defense up to $5.5 million with 45 defense LOL! Now to get great offense and great defense you basically have to be in the top half or so in the first round.
