Let me implement some realism into your lives with a real story. At my high school I played next to a guy that was a backup for the Mcdonalds all American high school teams. He was a 4 star recruit (Michigan). He got phone calls from Ohio state and Coach Izzo himself at Michigan state. However he ended up signing with Grand valley State because he didn't feel the big schools wanted him enough and grand valley was close to home and had a personal relationship with the coach. He went on to start for 4 years and now plays international professional ball. The notion that all players "star" rated goto D1 schools is completely Bullshit in reality. This is a real story from a real basketball player with a real outcome. D2 schools pull big time players because of personal preferences.
My brother had 6 wrestling scholarships and almost didn't take any of them because they were too far from home. He settled for the closest, didn't matter what team offered, he went for the one closest to home because that's what he wanted.
