I would apply that more to communism.

I think the only true socialist state today is Venezuela, right?

I guess? Communism has been tried many times. Great in theory, poor in practice. I don't know how many times socialism has been tried.

Bill Gates is not the reason we have poor people in this country so why punish him by taxing him more? He donates billions to charities and employs thousands. Yet Bernie Sanders says it’s unfair that he has all this wealth while so many are poor.

I don’t like Socialism. To me it’s basically thievery.
Bill Gates is not the reason we have poor people. However I disagree that taxing any rich person more is thievery. They are still rich.

So, if I go into Bill Gates house and take one of his many tv's and $500 off of his dresser it's not thievery because he's still rich?

No because that is stealing for personal gain. It matters where the money goes. Unless Bill Gates and everyone else wants to personally pay for education, healthcare, etc for the country. Otherwise it isn't theft.

That's dumb. It's not theft.

We already tax high incomes at higher rates than low incomes. We use that money to pay for social services.

If we decide that it's a good idea to increase taxes to pay for more services, that's just an extension of the system we already have.
