I suppose it adds some spice even if it makes my head spin.

Commish: have we agreed not to run the random division assignments until after everyone has entered their teams? ( S.O.P. in the first six seasons of this league ) Running it before teams are entered adds a new element of gamesmanship that will probably only benefit the most experienced/sophisticated owners, let's stay with our (randomly) fair and equal system

Looks like the vote is 11-5 in favor. For what it’s worth, I don’t think it’s an advantage at all to anyone.

You could make a case that it’s a lot for a brand new owner… but also what are you going this league for if you aren’t looking for a savage challenge?

I voted no mainly because I barely have time to get my team together let alone try to figure out what other teams are doing...

As a 'newbie' to the league, I'm in favor of doing of trying the division draft first. Seems like a fun wrinkle. I don't care too much either way though

I already have all 5 of my teams built and am very pleased with the statistical benchmarks I was able to achieve both in the starting lineups and bench replacements. Knowing divisions or not will have zero effect on my decisions.

Will friendly owners privately discuss/negotiate and insure that they don't put their"best" squads against each other in divisions? BTW 11 votes is not the majority of the league, especially since one or two want to change to no after thinking through some possible implications ...

That will be the last word from me.. At DFW getting ready to board plane to *VEGAS* will be very distracted the next 5 days :)

This is a good point and something to think about. People would have to be trusted to an extent not to cheat.

While 11 is not the majority, it is a lot more than 5.

Anyone coordinating their teams with other owners can screw off straight to the moon. That’s cheating.

5 days is awful long. 72 hours is the Vegas cutoff man.

It's a good point, and even though I don't think anyone would actually cheat it might be a good enough reason to delay divisions anyways.

Though since it is possible to see opposing teams while the league is still filling, it's not exactly fully avoidable anyways...

I messaged jhsukow to see if he still wanted to change his votes. There were no other comments in the thread on such a stance.

jhsukow has asked to withdraw any vote on his behalf, choosing to abstain.

So the vote tally stands at 10-6 in favor of doing the divisions tonight.

So, to honor the league vote, I will conduct the division draft live on the happy hour and will post in the forums the complete details.

I guess at the end of the day, we are just making the league more Savage.
