You have the No. 2 pick and you've played for years I have no idea how it's so hard to prepare a short list of players you want and write a name.

I feel bad about this mess since I was the last one to send the keeper in.

I had known who I had wanted to protect for a while but I couldn't send it in until after the last pick was made (since my team was not off the board). I admit that I didn't check the forums the next day (I had already made my pick) so I only logged into WIS to look at the games and set things up for the next game. ff09 did sitemail me telling me I was the last one that needed to get my keeper in but that was after the pm2 cycle so I didn't see his sitemail until the am cycle. I can see why those on the east coast might not have realized that they were going to be on the clock the next day since the am cycle is like 1:30am EST. Assuming that ff09 didn't post the keepers until several hours after I sent in my keeper, I can see why someone like nordawg might have been caught off guard.

fwiw if you're drafting at the end and you know you might not have convenient access to send a keeper in you could always send a list of keepers to the commish. Since you can only ever lose two players you would never need to send more than three names.

e: really this applies to any point since it's max two players lost per team but you get the point

This is kind of similar to my point with nordawg's situation. Even assuming he didn't see either sitemail from 7:30 p.m. OR 6:30 a.m. he knew there was one keeper outstanding and he had the second overall pick. So if he can't do ANY drafting at work, that means his plan if we were untimed to was nuke an entire day of the draft after the first pick? It's so easy to proxy for the 2nd pick in a round, even without keepers you know a maximum of two players can be kept from you from any particular team.

If the last pick of the 1st round had been in by the time of the am cycle, I would have sent my keeper in at that time (I knew I needed to be around to make the pick since it was a timed day, and I was also prepared to send in the keeper assuming that the Round 1 pick wasn't egregiously late). But the last pick wasn't made until the next day.

I don't like sending a proxy 1st round keeper because that would require me to reveal pretty much the entire list of players that I would seriously be considering protecting, which could then reveal to that owner (if they were looking to take someone from my team) that they either need to take that player in the 2nd round before I use a 2nd round protect on that player, or that they can wait until the 3rd round because I won't be using a protect on said player.

You don't need to proxy keepers to any random owner, though, just the commissioner, whom it should be safe to assume would act in good faith knowing your potential keepers, otherwise we shouldn't feel comfortable having them as commish in the first place.
