Canucks Thread - We Still Believe Topic

Last time I looked we were in first overall in the NHL. Of course we could still get better. Unfortunatly it will come with trading Scheinder. I'd rather keep him.

Luongo's deal, signed last September, begins this season and will pay him $10 million in 2010-11. In the final year, when he is 43, Luongo is scheduled to make just $1 million. The goaltender's cap hit over the 12 years is $5.33 million.

I'm sorry styck.  But we only have 6 top six forwards in my opinion.  We have a very good third and a crash and bang 4th that can score.  22,33,17,14 and 21 are the guys I think are top 6 guys.  The gap I see is with the sedins.  They play great with anyone, but get them a big sniper on the right side and look out.  And how scary would Kes, Burr and Mason be as a second duo?

If the Sedins had a sniper like R Nash on their line, Nash would pot 75 goals and the line would all be in the top ten in NHL scoring.  And like the above post says Kes, Burr and Raymond on the second line??  Then we have top 6 forwards.

You guys have talked me into it. Let's get Rick Nash today!

Nash would be awesome but chances are slim. We could package up Hodgson, Salo and maybe a draft pick. I'm not sure if that would be enough. If they have lost hope in Mason we could always throw Schneider into the deal too.

Hodgson,Salo and Schneider for Nash and Mason.

Think it's more like Hansen, Samuellson, Bieksa, Schneider and Schroeder for Nash and Gerber.  No one is taking Hodgson right now with the history of injuries.  Mason has issues but they would want to keep him.  That's a second line winger, a third line winger, a top 4 defenseman, a 1A goalie and prospect for a star forward and a washed up back-up.

I'd do that trade.  Still doubt Columbus would.  Even though it would make them better.

Not too many players in the league like that though.  But that would fit the bill.  They don't need a shifty sniper for the first line.  If they did Raymond would be up there.  A big strong straight forward guy, with decent wheels and a good shot and great garbage sense.

Looks like they pulled a top 6 forward out of their A....... with Shirokov. Looks like he can do some damage. I see him staying this time. A much different kind of threat than Raymond or Tambellini. He slows the game done to create a chance as opposed to Raymond flying in at lightning speed and usually losing the puck.

I think a great line for a combo of work and talent would be Kesler, Shirokov and Hansen. Hansen just gets stuff done but doesn't have any finish. Kesler should be given all the tools he needs to do well. This will more than make up for any shortfall on the 3rd and 4th line (scoring-wise).

Then maybe try giving Malhotra some speed with Raymond and Tambi. See if it gets him going offensively.

Luongo looked well worth the 10 million he was  worth last nite...we couldve had that performance for under a millio(Schneider) and most likely better...,, how are we ever going to get rid of this idiot?..for 10 million i expect him to let in the odd perfect shot..not  floaters  that i can stop after a 60lb'r....F@CK ...HE SUCKS!!

I wouldn't say he sucks most of the time. He's a competent NHL goalie that should be paid accordingly (about 2.5 mill tops). That's all you pay any goalie in an era of big goalies with big equipment who stand there and block shots. The difference between the good and the so-called great goalie isn't worth the extra money. Gillis missed the boat on this. There are 5 teams who have a goalie as their highest paid player. Four of them are crap and the 5th is the Canucks who are fortunate to have a deep balanced team at a lower cost (if you subtract Luongo from the cap).

Luongo stole us 1 point tonight.......

yea , he did ..but for 10 million  he needs to dothat 90% of the time not 10 % of the time

Did I just see Bieksa get rocked by some guy from that pathetic Calgary Flames team?  I'm sure everyone in here has a perfectly valid explanation for that happening....

 Blind squirrel theory
