STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS 2009-10 Topic

WOW.

First - I was born in 1978 so I did not watch Trottier - but I get what juskay is saying and I agree.

Second - I'm just messin with muddy until I can whoop his *** on the golf course this august. I really did want him to take that bet though. I found another chump instead ;)

Third - That was a quote from hawks blogger John Jaeckel about the hawks locking up soft players. I kinda agree. general concensus would suggest the Hawks are not known for their 'physicality' - I think even muddy would agree. Kaner is nowhere near as physical as many other wingers (Asham was an example of a physical player). Toews is tough and has the heart of walter payton but he's not a centerman that flattens people on a consistant basis. Bolland is hurt a lot but he hits people when he is in the lineup - he is probably the most physical player on the team. As a whole the Hawks are a high skill, low physicality team. Thats what JJ was talking about - not whether or not a guy will play with missing teeth. The hawks tend to play for the puck (and they are very good at it) whereas teams like Boston, Pittsburgh, Philly play for the body - not sure if that makes sense.

Toews had his clear stolen for that first goal. Sloppy play from the hawks so far.

Hjalmarrson is getting killed out there. Hawks are playing more physical this game but the canucks are still the more physical team so far.

Is it just me or should Viktor Stalberg hit harder at his size?

2 - 0 thanks to a stupid penalty from Sharp

Hammer just took another shot.  I'd hate to be him today.

Yeah he's playing hard though...and he's made some nice defensive plays. Courageous effort in spite of the punishment.

agreed.  seabs is playing like **** though - quite a lot of mistakes other than that penalty.  just turned it over twice in his own zone on the PP

2-1

If Luongo stopped that one I'd have said he sold his soul.

HAWKS SCORE!!!

Plan the parade...........Led by the most elite player in the league Jono Toews...........woooooooooooooooooot!!!

3-1 --- with less than 20 seconds left.    the good news for tthe hawks is mr. elite himself wasn't on the ice so he's still only a -1 for the game

Well, no one can say they didn't expect this to be a short series. It's going pretty much the way I expected with the Hawks' top guns having good sequences, arguably more good sequences so far than Vancouver's top 2 lines, but their 3rd and 4th lines haven't matched up at all.

I also think Sharp's injury is preventing them from using him at centre on the 2nd line, where he played most of last season's playoff with Hossa and Kopecky. That hurts the depth that much more.

Blah!!  Blah!!  Blah!!...............It ain't over until that little Bitc$ Patrik Kane takes it up the 5 hole from one of his D-men?
