Is it possible to play in the ws every season or is this an unrealistic goal.  ANd if so how?

In a good world, no.   HBD is designed to allow teams to be competitive every season.   In order to play in the WS every season, you have to be one of the 6 best from your league each year.  That's not unreasonable.   Then you must win 2 short series against other good teams.  That's harder to do in a good world as someone should be able to build a team capable of beating you.

That is not a question.

Thank you for the insight and suggestions.  I do have some goals, just not sure on how to attain them yet.  The team has been owned by 7 owners in 7 seasons and it needs an overhaul in the pitching department.  The good thing is the top draft picks from the past three seasons are money in the near future so I plan on building around them and I have the #4 pick in the draft as well.  I am down to 31 players on the 40 so I think the Rule V will be vital to compete this season.

Should I hire you as a mentor?

You could just ask questions.    By the way, looking at your team, I'd shoot for the 10 game improvement(1), .500(2) and playoffs(3) with my year by year 3 year plan.   That team hasn't been horrible.

My RPI is 39 heading into the conference tournament final. Opponent has RPI 16. Will I make the Big Dance when I lose?

You will but I'd try to win.

Whats your opinion on when your team is consistently one of the top teams and draft scouting?

Do you basically eliminate your College and HS scouting, do you focus on just one, or somethign else?

Are the Raiders for real or do the Bears really suck?
8/22/2010 10:32 AM
I eliminate on and concentrate on the other.  I'm hoping I can score a top 15 talent by putting max resources into one area.

I've been telling anyone who'd listen(which is essentially no one) that the Raiders were a .500 team last season with an average QB.   If Campbell can be an average QB, they'll win 8.   If he can be a little above average, they might win 10.   And the Bears suck balls.   But I wouldn't put much stock in pre-season results.

Im thanking of putting 0 in int scouting is this wise?  I may be in a league that only allows you to drop 6mil a year in a category

IFA is pretty much an all or nothing proposition.   If you're not investing 14-15m into scouting, there's not much point in investing any.

Is there anything to the "Girardi to Cubs" talk or is it just something for the talking heads to fill airtime with?
8/23/2010 9:22 AM
I think it has to be pointless speculation.   Girardi is a young man.   I'm sure he knows, sooner or later, the Yanks will fire him.  The Cubs job will be available then.  For the most part, he's been left alone in NY.  Not much meddling at all.  So he's got pretty much unlimited resources, ownership that's mostly hands-off and a fan base that will blame A-Rod and AJ for any failures.   Chicago isn't less of a hotbed as far as expectations.   But the talent isn't there and there no reason to believe it will be.
