You performance post brought up a few things I had been thinking about in regards to relative value. In many cases I see good players on my teams and others that just don't seem to be getting it done. If a good player under-performs, then besides park factors, I assume an owner may not be using him correctly.
SO, let me ask this: If you had a very good pitcher, what could an owner do to make that pitcher - underperform - and how could you tell?
If you had a guy like
Cy Walker you were looking at, and he had say a 4.90 ERA with a 1.53 WHIP, where /what would you look at in the stats to indicate he was being misused? Could you get a few clues?
