Obama: Worst President Ever? Topic

The appellate court has refused en banc review of its prop 8 ruling.  Proponents of prop 8 have 90 days to petition the supreme court.  If they don't, or if the court refuses to hear their case, prop 8 will remain overturned and the stay will be lifted.

If it doesn't specifically harm marriage, what interest do you have in stopping it? Change alone isn't evidence of harm.

Regarding MLB, the only tangible benefit is revenue related. More people watching equals more revenue. More interest equals revenue. Higher attendance equals revenue. Take revenue away and the tradition doesn't matter.
My interest in is preserving tradition.

Something which you feel (in your own words) "doesn't matter".

I assume, in addition to telling everyone how to run their business, that he also gets to decide what's important.   Tradition is not.

It sure seems that way.

Walker seems to be winning at a decent clip. Again the late polls seemed to indicate more support of Democrats than there actually was.

This is a huge win.

This puts all the occupy movement into question. 2010 was a off year landslide in epic ranges.

Obama and the Democratic senate are all in danger.

Including gay couples in marriage will not destroy the tradition. You will still be married. You said yourself that your marriage will not be affected. Straight couples will still continue to marry as they always have. More people will be included in the tradition.

I still do not feel you have met the burden of proof that this is a civil right and not just a regulation of an existing policy.

Tradition = "one man, one woman".

Please explain to me how gay couples can fit into that definition.

Use small words, so that I can follow along.

He doesn't know the meaning of "tradition".    But I'll try to help him.

Traditionally, a marriage is between one man, one woman.    When marriage is changed to include one man, another man or one man, one goat or one man, one apple, it is no longer traditional.

Traditional marriage includes heterosexual marriages. Now, heterosexuals still marry, but marriages also includes gay couples.

Change alone isn't a harm.

You're not the sharpest knife in the drawer, are you?

Traditional marriage is only "one man and one woman".  It is not "one man and one woman, among other things".

So again, how does SSM marriage fit into the traditional definition of marriage?

The tradition has changed. Marriage now includes gay couples.
