Trump: Worst President Ever? Topic

Comprehension is rough for you.

Lol. If i believed that id be advocating against my own fatass interests.

i dont think restaurants should not serve anyone without good cause. Working for the Trump admin or being gay are certainly not good reasons for anyone to refuse service. I said that above, just more briefly.

the images you described all break the law. They should not be allowed anywhere

discriminating against religious beliefs is also against the law. did the supreme court not rule in favor of the baker, or did I miss something.

The Supreme Court also allowed Citizen's United. They don't always get it right.

If the restaurant says feeding anyone who works for Trump is against their religious beliefs(you can find a ton of reasons for this in the bible), they are good to not allow them in, right?

COMPASSIONATE LIBERALS

RUSH: How many of you know the name Kevin McHale off the top of your head? Ah, Brian, who is he? What team? What team did he play for? That’s right, for the Boston Celtics. Kevin McHale. He’s a veteran of the NBA, many, many, many, many moons ago. Well, he went to the Trump rally last night in Duluth. Does that surprise you? Eh, no big deal. Kevin McHale. He’s a former player, a good player. He was a star player in the NBA and a coach.

He went to the Trump rally in Duluth, and now a fringe, left-wing lunatic of sports media tweeted the following: “Kevin McHale is extremely stupid for attending a public Trump event. That, as much as his politics, is why he should never work in the NBA again.” He currently is a broadcaster of NBA games on TNT. They’re now demanding that he be fired from TNT and banned altogether from the NBA just because he went to the Trump rally. Now, that is insanity. Stupidity.

The supreme court is the ultimate court... what they say goes. If you don't like the law, change it, legally,

No **** Sherlock...therefore the restaurant is perfectly able to not serve anyone who bears false witness against their neighbors on an everyday basis.

I'm glad we were able to come to an agreement.

Again, I think it's stupid, but the SC said it's perfectly fine.

Nice! I'm going to be in Chicago, September 13-18th visiting Goose Island among other things(I'm their brand manager for our distributor). Full schedule...Notre Dame/Vandy on the 15th, Cubs/Reds on the 16th, and Seahawks/Bears on the 17th but I'm going to be fitting in at least one trip to GI for a full on tour of all their facilities. If possible, I'll drag you along and we can have some beers. Shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah but your business is to serve cakes.
Doesn't matter if you own your business. as a business owner you can set your own store hours, hire as many employees as you want, choose to close on sundays, etc. who are you to tell that business owner what they can and can not do? in this baker case he does sell cakes to gay people, to anyone who wants to buy them... he just won't custom make a cake for a specific event that goes against his religion (which is protected in the USA).
Fine. I still don't see why that is different from not serving SHS.
I have no idea what SHS is....
Ahhhh.... I see now. The baker is required to serve gays whatever his store offers anyone else (i.e. his usual goods) and he always has, in fact he even told the gay couple they can choose any of his normal cakes if they'd like. When the request is made to make a custom cake that impugned upon his protected beliefs he is not required to make that cake, assuming the gay couple can go elsewhere to buy it.

Let's put it this way for SHS - would a restaurant be required to make SHS a kosher meal if its not already on the menu? of course not, even though they serve meals for a living. That said they can not deny her whatever they serve anyone else thats on the menu.

Make sense?
Did the baker have a business of making CUSTOM cakes for an event? I thought the rejection was based upon religion, not that the business he ran wasn't serving custom cakes.

"Jack (the baker) serves all customers; he simply declines to express messages or celebrate events that violate his deeply held beliefs," Waggoner (his atty) said in a statement. "Creative professionals who serve all people should be free to create art consistent with their convictions without the threat of government punishment."
That didn't answer my question. It just served to benefit my point.

From the court ruling:

"A custom wedding cake is not an ordinary baked good; its function is more communicative and artistic than utilitarian," Solicitor General Noel Francisco argued. "Accordingly, the government may not enact content-based laws commanding a speaker to engage in protected expression: An artist cannot be forced to paint, a musician cannot be forced to play, and a poet cannot be forced to write."
An argument could me made that cooking is also art. Thus you can't force someone to make a certain food for you.
