Nice! I'm going to be in Chicago, September 13-18th visiting Goose Island among other things(I'm their brand manager for our distributor). Full schedule...Notre Dame/Vandy on the 15th, Cubs/Reds on the 16th, and Seahawks/Bears on the 17th but I'm going to be fitting in at least one trip to GI for a full on tour of all their facilities. If possible, I'll drag you along and we can have some beers. Shouldn't be a problem.
Well if you want to hang out with a ******** like me I know the GM of Lucky Dorr, Brick House, etc as well some of the Cubs execs... feel free to hit me up via sitemail and include ceez.
Beautiful, would love to hoist with Ceez also. Long overdue.

From the court ruling:

"A custom wedding cake is not an ordinary baked good; its function is more communicative and artistic than utilitarian," Solicitor General Noel Francisco argued. "Accordingly, the government may not enact content-based laws commanding a speaker to engage in protected expression: An artist cannot be forced to paint, a musician cannot be forced to play, and a poet cannot be forced to write."
An argument could me made that cooking is also art. Thus you can't force someone to make a certain food for you.
precisely.... cooking is an art which is exactly why a restaurant is not 'required' to cook you a halal or kosher meal if its not on the menu for everyone else. They are required to cook you (no matter what race, etc) whatever is on the menu.

Right. You have still yet to prove that the bakery wasn't a custom wedding cake store.

It wasn't - they proved it in court. They told the gay couple they would sell them any cake in the store. They just would not do a custom cake for a gay wedding. for Christ sake please read up on the court case.

Its a dumb question. Common sense is sorely lacking. All three portray hate crimes/breaking the law. It doesnt deserve an answer. Just equating those situations to a gay wedding tells me enough about you.

its funny how you guys are all free market freaks until the shoe is on the other foot. The eatery made a decision based on their morals/christian beliefs. Whats wrong with that? I personally think its dumb but the bar has been set now.

You righties kill me. Say black lives matter and you answer "all lives matter", then the reaction with seperations show that's bullshit.

now its we should be able to discriminate when its our closely held beliefs but when it afflicts you, you cry like the little thin skinned ******* you are.

Womp Womp
so you think restaurants should be able to not serve fat people... and artists must paint repulsive pictures no matter what they believe. got it.
If a restaurant doesn't want to serve fat people or ugly people or white people or black people it should be the business owner's decision. Again it doesn't seem live very good business practice to refuse to serve a large segment of the population, but that's none of my business.

That's where there's existing laws regarding discrimination. They have to follow the law. If it's on the menu they have to make it for anyone who orders it.

If you don't like those laws then change them, legally.

If their store sold custom cakes, then why is that any different from the SJS situation?

Did SHS order a custom meal and was denied?

? My point is that it is hypocritical to support not baking a custom cake for a gay wedding and also complain about SHS getting denied at a restaurant.

Businesses have the "right" to refuse server to anybody for ANY reason they like as long as they clearly post a message that declares that they exercise their "right" to refuse service to anyone they choose to. However, they MAY be subject to someone's (someone they deny to serve) lawsuit IF someone believes they were denied service on the basis of a protected (by Law) class of people. At present, I believe that applies to discrimination on the basis of race, color, or religion. I don't think (yet) the Law's protection applies to sexual orientation. Maybe things have changed in some states but Federally I think that's the present state of the Law.
