I think it's best to assume "people" are stupid until they prove otherwise.   That way you never have to ask if they understand anything because you've already assumed they're stupid.

Yes.  And I'm on the phone all day.   I look more forward to walking my dogs after work than they do.  No phones, no talking(other than "Hey, don't eat that goose crap!!!").

No idea.  He went to Wrigleyfest or at least had pizza with 'motown the night before WF so he's not incarcerated like you were.
