As a general rule, people are dumb. If you start with that assumption, you're less bothered by stuff like that. Popular vote would increase voter turnout. If people weren't dumb, that would be a good thing. However, should it change to popular vote, mobilization of voters will be key. Currently, the Dems are better at that.
