I have always given a mulligan to anyone voting for him the first time. Like you say how could someone anyone vote for him after Jan 6 and be pro American. Or even pro life in the macro sense.
He literally wanted people shot and killed.

I hate Mandami and his virulent antisemitism. I am ashamed of my Jewish brethren who voted for him just as much as I am ashamed of those who support Trump. Any half brained idiot would know that his wife was publicly hating Israel and Jews and espoused the River to the sea rhetoric. How in the world would he not share her beliefs at least to a large extent.

The person to follow is AOK. Is she going to be a left to center moderate as she has been. She has been on the record recognizing Israel as a legitimate country and in favor of a 2 state solution. I have not heard the g word or apartheid. Let’s see what happens when she is pressed.

In the meantime I am worried about the potential splintering of the Democratic Party by the people who stayed home in November 2024. They are stupid and destructive.

I feel good about AOK.
These are the issues she must navigate.

1. Viciously mock the morons talking about getting rid of prisons. At least make it perfectly clear that wont happen. State support for police.

2. Continue to be clear that Israel is a legitimate country. And has the right to exist.

3. Say that she does not agree on the charges of genocide.

4. However clearly criticize Israel and Netanyahu for being heavy handed and going past the end of the conflict and criticize Israel and Netanyahu for refusing to cooperate with Biden.

5. Say that military aid is contingent on cooperation but that defense weapons will continue if needed.

6. Refuse to call Israel an apartheid state under any definition.

7. Support the 2 state solution and say that it can’t happen until the Palestinians recognize Isreal as a legitimate sovereign nation.

8. Assure that she is not a communist and is a capitalist but that we have always had some socialism and explain what. Labels are counterproductive.

9. Distance herself from Mandami Israel policy.

10. Oppose boycotting Israel commercially.

11. Pick a VP who is charismatic. Not the boring type like the Harris VP. Do not pick a woman. Do not pick Pritzker. Fits the tired boring type ( not to me but to too many ) but pick a centrist progressive.


If she does these things she will probably win.
She must get the people who rant about Israel but are reachable. Focus on independents.
She should not pick Shapiro because of the antisemitism.

Trump lost a few today but won a case so now he can fire anyone except Fed people.

This is not rhetoric. The government already is operated like a third world democracy and is about to get worse exponentially.

Today is a victory for the Originalists ( LOL ). Take that Uncle Thomas and Uncle Sam. Even if the founders were inadvertently and incompetently and unintentionally direct and clear and did not mean for the 14th Amendment to mean exactly what it said then find the clear subtext for that - oh there wasn’t any to over ride the clear meaning and thus the clear intent.
Nobody said it would not apply to kids born of 2 undocumented parents.

Originalism means originalism. Not pick and choose when to apply or when to legislate. Common decency and reverence to the constitution and opposition to hatred won the day thank goodness.

On the trans issue for female sports I agree with the decision and it would not have been even a close call. While it does not in any way mean a blow to the validity and legitimacy of trans status and in many cases will cause sadness for the sports aspirations of trans girls and some women there cannot be any other decision. I don’t think that there are menu probably very very few trans females that would want their biological status to confer an unfair advantage in sports accomplishment.

However there is no reason at all for trans women to not be coaches and managers.
