2009-2010 Preview League (FULL) Topic

Minnesota- $76,688,228

Ottawa- $82,723,192

I'm guessing I'm somewhere in the middle.

synth - Minnesota would get to draft, Ottawa would not. I'll add Minny to the list, though.

I'm keeping it at first come, first served for two reasons.

1 - the person who gets last choice of team gets first pick in the draft (unless they fall asleep at the keyboard or something). I find that more than fair, seeing as how they get last choice of team.

2 - I've been in previous draft leagues where the draft takes weeks because the person who is next in terms of salary has not logged in. This method is a fair way of making sure that doesn't happen.

3 - while this isn't one of my two actual reasons, it means there will have to be some strategic drafting. If ten owners all pick Ilya Kovalchuk in a minute span, then there's a clear way to decide who gets him (the first post that actually gets registered). It means you'll have to have several backup options in mind, in case someone has beaten you to the draw.

Is #1 what you'd prefer IF you didn't choose to do the "first come first serve" draft approach?

I am a bit confused...exactly how will the draft work and when?

winnerpeg - If people were actually active, my preference goes to salary. But I don't want that sort of headache (this league is taking long enough to fill!).

As soon as the league is filled, everyone will post on this forum who they choose from the unchosen teams. The only stipulation is that each player can only be selected once.

Thanks.

New question:

For those of us with more than 1 team, do we need to post more than once (a post for each team) or is posting every team's selection in the same post also ok?

You can select both in the same post - I see no problem with that!

I added the franchise player to my roster. Prospects names as well here:

franchise player (under 3m): 74-75 Bill Goldsworthy = Matthew Clarkson

prospects/MLers

G = Johan Backlund

D1 = Ryan Parent

D2 = Danny Syvret

L = Garrett Klotz

R = Andreas Nodl

C = Jonathan Matsumoto

thanx!

there could be a 1 day draft where each is given a time, u miss your time, you lose......so what if 2 people post the same player? first to post wins? ....now the retired 165k players, is that from your team or from any team?
9/24/2009 11:09 PM
I´ll take Dallas as 2nd team !
9/25/2009 6:07 AM
mattyberk - I've been in a league like that before, and it ended with complaints and people who don't check their account dropping out of the league (a little late by that point!).
9/25/2009 11:41 PM
Dallas is yours, chucky74! Thanks for the help in filling the league. Will you be partaking in the draft?
9/25/2009 11:44 PM
Oh, and yes, first to post the player name gets the player. If someone else chooses the same player, but was beaten to the player by another owner, they'll have to choose again from the players .

The retired players as scrubs can be from any NHL franchise.
