i have always disagreed with polo's claim that early entries helped top-flight schools. so, i suppose i will have to disagree with this one, too. i already would rather have 4 scholarships than 6. his plan would just make that more severe. and that really sucks when it is totally out of your hands!

Z ~ I understand you had a crazy 3-4 EE's and now have 8 open. And that does suck. But maybe the way to improve what happened to you is to look at EE logic (which isn't great), and especially work on the limit of maybe 2 EE's per team per year or just divoricing EE's from NT results a little bit more.

And not make a change that others (not you) could use to exploit the system by loading up on walkons.

You are a great coach and I have no doubt that you will be able to sign 5 players that are really solid with your A+ prestige and even if you get 3 walkons you'll be ok. And I can see how you can go through $120k pretty fast at Syracuse, but you might need to sign 1-2 scrub 2-star projects for safety or Redshirting, and that's not SO bad.

But maybe EE logic is the problem.

That EE logic would help billyg's issue as well. Or something like Mrpolo's idea is a good workaround where you get more for each open beyond the first, but not as much as you get now.

Maybe just you get N+1 money for N scholarships?

the thing is, regarless of early entries, high prestige schools with tons of scholarships have a huge advantage.

They will almost always get a few guys to sign for super cheap ($4k-5k).

So take this example. Say you are at Duke with six openings. You have $90k. You get two guys considering only you. No one will battle because of the warchest. So now you have four openings with $80k in cash. thats $20k per recruit.

The price should not be fixed. It just makes it super easy to recruit
