I've said many times that WS winners are largely a crapshoot.   Who won the most short series in a row?

Winning the WS is not the point? That's great to know. I'm much more satisfied now with never having won one.

Winning the WS is the point.   Some people believe failing to win the WS equals a failed season.   I disagree.  As do most rational people.

If your team meets or exceeds your expectations, that is a successful season. It can be winning the WS, making the playoffs or breaking .500. Every team and every season brings a different level of expectations.

Depends on where you set your expectations.   Getting 21 wins when you were thinking 19 isn't successful.

You know that's not what I meant, Mike. And btw, where are the thread author's updates on his 'progress' in rebuilding? Last I saw there was a trade of a 22 yr old 80/89 OVR player and 21 yr old 73/87 OVR pitcher for a $6.5M 36 yr old pitcher(along with some other mediocre players). Quality for quantity. And then taking 10 Rule 5 guys(mostly drek). That's how you rebuild a disaster? The way it looks right now, that team will be doing well to win 40 games, IMHO.

You rebuild by loosing 30 games more than the team did the season before! now thats progress!

Well, I'll give an update. bb recently posted a request for pitching. Understandable, since his team ERA is 7.05. Claiming "probably the best bench in the NL", he offers [URL=http://www.whatifsports.com/hbd/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=2163685]Gary McCallum[/URL] as bait. McCallum, with a .209 BA, was signed as a $6.0M FA and was designated for assignment 16 days ago. Pretty sure that guy will bring a top notch pitcher.    Current record is 29-44, tied for 2nd place, 7 games out of 1st.

thanks for the update there torrone.  I really with bb would give us updates.  It sure would be fun to watch his ineptitude in real time.
